Tronsmart MK908 Version 3 - Working ROM Tracker

I thought I'd start this thread so hopefully we can get some information for people like myself who have recently received the evil version 3 of Tronsmart's MK908 player.

I'm hoping that people who find out a way to sucessfully get the device:

1) Stable (No random resets or USB power down).
2) Work with Video (No stutter).
3) Netflix (Fluid video).

GOOD - Working and stable
NOT GOOD - Working but unstable
BAD - Not Working at all

Here is only the roms that I know that works but with problems:

Tronsmart MK908 08/02 Android 4.2 Stock Firmware (Jumpy Netflix, Limited video playback if any)

Here are the ones that I've tested and failed with:
MK908-android.4.2.2.jjhmod.v1.4 (fails to boot, constant looping of reset/boot).
MK908-android.4.2.2.jjhmod.v2.0-universal (fails to boot, constant looping).
MK908 Hybrid Firmware (HFW) 1.1.2 (Shame old, version 3 constant looping).
Tronsmart MK908 Finless 1.4 ROM (No siginal to HDMI port, blank screen).

So here's the point of the thread and what I'm hoping, I'm hoping that people can report their findings with just version 3. If you have any other version please help contribute to version 3 problems or keep the thread clean. I'm gonna test even more roms but I fear no matter what I do its a endless loop, its something they done and as long as roms are being made for all the other versions then this won't work because there's something different about the V3. (Seems Power/USB Related).

I tested jjhmod rom 1.5 and finless roms with fixed kernels and no problems of that kind here. I also have a revision 3 dongle. I added a heatsink to my unit, no thermal problems here for sure. Maybe there is something wrong with your hardware?

When did you receive your unit? Whats the date next to the revision number.

The stick works ok with the ROM from thier website, I think if there was an issue it wouldn't work at all?

When you say fixed kernels please explain, I just download the roms of this website.

yes, it's strange
fixed kernels it's about a video fix, this fix is already implemented in in jjhmod roms. Did you try flashing jjmod 1.5 rom? Try it: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...c-fix-Download

I have the same problems that you described.

The device is not stable for me.

Netflix works for 3 or 4 minutes. Then the movies lose sound, the picture freezes and the sound continues to work or directly closes.
About movies, sometimes when I watch some one, the device restarted it.
Sometimes, device restart by itself.

Finally, wifi is not a strong point in this device.

It is very frustrating for me to use this device. I bought a tablet AllFine Genius 7 for my son, is very basic and has some problems, but does not reset, you can play movies and netflix works perfect.

I have version 3.0 of 05/31/2013.

I can at least get some catharsis, and I see that some people have the same problems, so I'm hopeful of finding a solution.

Finally: can anyone recommend a powerful device that does not have these problems? jejeje

MK908 New revision

Just wanted to say that I ordered a new mk908 from geekbuying about a week ago so I should get it within another week tops I'd hope. I am also hoping this is a version 3.0 because that's the whole point.. aside from the usb ports on mine getting a bit worn out from the workout I've been giving it over the past few months. But anyways I'm hoping what I get is the new version so I can start to make functional kernels for it..

That 4.2.2 jjhmod Universal build I did was basically the new tronsmart firmware with a custom kernel I made.. Of course I had to test it on my version 1 stick though. I did however include the stock kernel as well so at least people could flash that as a quick fix to get them functionality with my added ui tweaks, root, and init.d in the event that my kernel did not work for them.

But anyway I hope to get the new version soon and see what I can figure out to make a good solid rom for it. I can't promise much because I am very new at this but I can at least promise to give it my best shot.

Edit: also I think it sucks that they didn't just release this new revision as a whole new model number... calling it mk908 when it's not the same hardware just gets confusing.

I got mine on Monday August 12th, so i am pretty sure it is version 3.
I experienced the same symptoms as noted above boot loop / black screen, i had flashed Finless 1.4 and 1.5. Once reverting back to the stock firmware all was working fine.

I also wanted to note that whenever i would try to connect from my phone to the stick via RKremotecontrol it would reboot the device and shut off the wifi.

what roms work:the generic-3.0 rom works but its unstable as hell random reboots,video playback doesn't work ect ect The Tronsmar 0.82 works but its slow and justs as unstable unless I flash hoaby's -fast-n00p- kernel

hold the reset button down while you plug it in wait for it to say mask-rom mode/turn purple or red and then use RKbatch tool to re-flash the factory rom(use the restore option) iv done worse things to mine and it still functions .. mostly(ripped the antenna pads off it knocked at least 2 Surface mount resistors off it ... still works save for the wifi not working but ill fix that eventually

see my above post just make sure you hold that reset button down for at least 15 seconds WHILE you plug it in to the otg
might throw a error when you try and format the device keep trying it will come back eventually

Sadly no good, tried like 20 times.

Problem is the computer isn't even seeing the USB device, I plugin the cable into the OTG port with the reset button held. I normally get a bong noise within 2secs, even waiting to 60secs does nothing.

There's power going though it because the HDMI channel sees theres a siginal but no picture, no blue light (but i read some roms dont have blue light.)

I dont see anyway I can restore it, if the PC doesn't see USB.
