Blue Flashing Light = Bad PSU

My H96 Pro+ (Around 2-3 weeks old) the last few days has been stuttery crashy
when you reboot or power the device up it just sits there flashing blue for anything from
    1-30 seconds

I presumed it was the psu and decided to swap it out before it takes the box with it

The PSU it came with was AL-520WA 5V 2.5A with a UK plug (its light as a feather)

Anyway i just went digging around the house and found

DVE 5V 2A Made in the UK Switching PSU in my bag of tricks
    Very Heavy Duty Cable
    Ferrite Ring around Cable
    90° Angle Connector
5x the weight of the AL-520WA

Fits fine and guess what box fixed

New psu is identical to this but says Made in the UK instead of China
no idea what it came off

The psu was faulty from the day it arrived and was just getting worse
Ever since i got it i have been having black screen's at random times about every 30mins or so (the lengh of a hdmi handshake)
I put it down to a timing issue that my AV Receiver didnt like and was hoping for a firmware fix

Turns out it was the psu causing it

Hasnt done it once since changing the psu

also some times it wouldnt wake up from extended standby
its not doing that anymore either
that bad psu must have been giving voltage spikes when its in standby causing a crash
