    NEW! Minix U1 EZ root ZIP for W13 Firmware

    Hey folks.... been a while aye?

    HERE by popular demand is a NEW EZ ROOT ZIP for the new Minix W13 firmware......

    THIS IS ONLY FOR THE NEW FW013 released in June 2017!


    Let me tell you... rooting via a ZIP file Lillipop was a MAJOR pain in the BUTT!!!!
    Lillipop is very different than KitKat was.

    So a Donation is appreciated if you like

    This is a full proper root including fixing processes!
    When you run the SU app for the first time you it will not have to update the SU binary which is unlike other root tools out there for the S905.

    On with the show.....
    Download the link below.

    Unzip the file and put the 3 files on a SDcard.
    ezroot.zip
    recovery.img
    factory_update_param.aml

    Insert the SDcard into your Minix U1
    unplug the power, wait 3 seconds and plug it back in.

    Now this is the important part. We need to boot the recovery you put on SDcard not the internal recovery or the ezroot.zip will fail signature.

    Press and hold the power button. KEEP HOLDING the power button until you see the Android man updating.
    Release the power button.

    The U1 will reboot and your done!

    Enjoy the perfect root

        UPDATE:
        Turns out earasing, reflashing to the Feb.2017 update, then running the system update to the June29,2017 update, and then running the EZroot bricked the box as it was stuck on the glowing MINIX loading screen.

        Unless I did something wrong, let me know, as I can root the box with the old EZroot and flash software from before. I also tried to unbrick the box by running the EZ-UNroot but that didn't work either, hence me having to erase and reflash the unit.

        So far running the old update with the old EZroot, as the newer update and EZroot don't seem to be working for me!

        Thanks but I ran the update to the latest firmware update, then ran your flash after the system finished the updates. However it would not install the root, despite repeated attempts and saying that EZ root was installed! I am now doing a clean reflash and update of the newest firmware, then will run the EZroot after the update. Hopefully this will work!

          I did not update EZ Un-root.
          This EZ root is ONLY for the FW13 firmware release in June.
          It will not work on previous frimware.

            This I all know. I ended up reflashing the unit to the FW13 update. Then I ran the EZ file you have but after rebooting it got stuck on the glowing MINIX screen. So I had to reflash back to FW12 and use the older EZroot. I will hold off on updating/rooting to version 13 till the bugs are worked out. Spent hours trying to get it to work without success for FW13. At least my box works rooted on FW12 for now!

              Not sure what to say. I have used and tested it multiple times on my U1 with FW013 firmware.
              FYI I flash my box with the USB flash tool and the FW013.img and I am not using OTA or ZIP update.

                Flash tool? Ahh ok, I was using the power on method of holding the button for 6 seconds. Where can I find this USB flash tool and the guide to using the file?

                  Thank you for it, but I really need you help.

                  I updated to FW013 (because I have some problem with FW012 HDMI output) using USB tool.
                  When I try to us your EZ-root tool I can't get pass the minix flashing logo.. every time.

                  I try to re-flash FW013 several times again, let it boot and then again try to use this tool, but every time the same result.

                  Do you have any idea what i'm doing wrong?
                  Download FW013 from official minix forum, use USB tool, let device boot up with out any problem, put EZ-root files on SD, press power for 6 sec, android logo show twice and then stuck on minix flashing logo...

                    It happens to me exactly the same.
                    I'll have to go back to FW012 if I want to be root.

                      Same problem here - from FW011 (EZ rooted), EZ unroot, then to FW013 (USB tool), no prob.

                      Tried previous EZ root - no way, flashing logo.

                      Forced USB FW013 update, used new EZ root tool, nada: flashing logo all the way.

                        Hi all, I have the same issue as the users above, and I can't even go back to the old firmware as I can't find a copy of it anywhere online since the minixforums are down! Can any kind soul please help?
