Want to update p200_2-based Android box. Help?

    Hey folks,

Long time listener. First time caller.

I recently took ownership of an Amlogic S905 p200_2g Android box for the grand total price of free. It's currently running Andoird 5.1.1 after a manufacturer OTA update.

Unfortunately, it is not a box from a well-known manufacturer. I have found others online that look similar to this one, however.

Anyway, I would love to update it to Android 6 using Magendanz's ROM here: http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...-tv-nexus-roms

However, he warns that updates may cause wifi not to work as the ROM only has drivers for specific wifi chipsets.

How do I verify which chipset is installed on the board? And what other things can I check to see if his ROM is compatible with my Android box before attempting to flash?

Some background: I'm fairly inexperienced with Android but I can get by in Linux for the most part. The dmesg command doesn't work in terminal on this box, so I can't identify the wifi chipset that way. I can probably crack open the case if necessary, but I'd rather avoid it if at all possible.

    Cheers and thank you.
In the spirit of the Pure Nexus Project, these custom ROMs prove that less can be more. The goal is to keep true to Google's vision and use the bare minimum of OEM

Here you go. Six exterior photos, one from each surface.

I know for certain that it's a p200_2g inside, but I am not sure about certain components on the board.

The box is sold by GeniusTVBox.com, model Einstein X.

I attempted to open the case from the bottom. There's a slot where one can use a screwdriver or knife to pry it open. However, I think there are screws underneath the rubber glued-on feet. I pried lightly but it didn't come off.
You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. This gallery has 6 photos.

        Hi ,

you know Warranty will be gone after open up , most Boxes can be opend by screws under the Box .

Without knowing the WifiChip and some other Infos it is only a "try and press Thumbs" Operation ,

hope you get it open , maybe the Seller know more u can ask ??? ( are you German ???)

        greetings / gefattern

There are no visible screws holding the bottom of the box. They might be hidden by the rubber anti-slip feet.

After looking at /system/etc/wifi and /system/etc/bluetooth, it looks like it has a Broadcom 4335 or a clone.

          And no, I'm not German.

            I've figured it out. It's a Zoomtak T8H. http://www.zoomtak.net/product-item/...ogic-s905-t8h/
