x92 TV BOX 3gb/32gb - sound and other issues

I recently purchased a x92 android tv box and it's been fairly good at what it does. But I've run into a number of issues that I hope someone on this forum might assist me with solving. BTW, I have a digital optical audio cable running from my TV optical out to a VIzio 3651-e6 soundbar while using the x92. Also, the box came with Android 7 as the OS and aside from the regular settings there is a Droid settings in the app section and I find both are needed to change various settings for the box.

    Here are my issues:

    1) HBO go app will display video perfectly, but there is no audio! (btw... the volume is turned up to the highest level in the HBO go app. Also, my Showtime Anytime app and others work perfectly fine with both video and audio) Any help to get audio working in my HBO go app would be appreciated.

    2) There is no introductory sound when the x92 boots up. (I mention this because when I watch a youtube video of the box from the manufacturer, there was an intro. sound during the boot process).

    3) The clock on the x92 front display only works in 24hr mode. Changing settings does not help to switch it to 12 hr mode.

    4) There is no navigation bar at the bottom of the display. I thought I had seen one in a review of the x92, but then again in the reivew the box was running Android 6 OS, so that might be the reason?

To all: I am new to this forum and hope I am properly contributing with this first post. Thank you for any and all help with this matter.

Yes,Tthere is no introductory sound when the x92 boots up,We replaced the video with the boot animation

    3) The clock on the x92 front display only works in 24hr mode. Changing settings does not help to switch it to 12 hr mode.

The digital tube has been shown for 24 hours

Because part of the APP use status bar causes no full screen display, we have removed it, and the status bar operation only supports the mouse

jiangsai0703, I really appreciate your contribution to my post with your comments.

I have a few further comments and clarifications to your thoughts on the issues I originally presented in this posting.

      1) HBO go app will display video perfectly, but there is no audio! (btw... the volume is turned up to the highest level in the HBO go app. Also, my Showtime Anytime app and others work perfectly fine with both video and audio) Any help to get audio working in my HBO go app would be appreciated.

You replied: HBO go app ?

HBO go is an app (found on Google Playstore) that allows use of the HBO subscription (which I have through my xFinity cable service). I've done some additional research on my issue, and it seems that xFinity may not be allowing use of the app on Android devices as they may prefer one renting their cable boxes. Apparently with the newer HBO go apps xFinity "senses" the HDMI cable to the TV and then prevents sound from going to the TV. At least this is a thought of some on the various forums discussing this issue. As a temporary workaround, it was suggested to use an older version of the app that could not have the HDMI cable "sensed, " however, with this older version it was said HD quality video could not be displayed. I hope someone has a better suggestion for getting HBO go to work with xFinity service. Apparently it works fine with other cable providers, just not xFinity. It was also mentioned they thought xFinity was working on a version for Android (but it's been a number of years and no app yet).

      2) There is no introductory sound when the x92 boots up. (I mention this because when I watch a youtube video of the box from the manufacturer, there was an intro. sound during the boot process).

You replied: Yes,Tthere is no introductory sound when the x92 boots up,We replaced the video with the boot animation

OK, I just thought I saw a YouTube video where the introductory animation had sound. This is not that big a deal for me, just as long as it boots quickly.

      3) The clock on the x92 front display only works in 24hr mode. Changing settings does not help to switch it to 12 hr mode.

You replied: The digital tube has been shown for 24 hours

Sorry, but I don't understand your reply at all. I was just wanting to have the clock display in 12 hr mode on the front of the x92 box, e.g. 1:09 p.m. instead of 13:09 There seems to be a way to change this in settings, but it has no effect on changing the time format on x92's front display.

      4) There is no navigation bar at the bottsom of the display. I thought I had seen one in a review of the x92, but then again in the reivew the box was running Android 6 OS, so that might be the reason?

You replied: Because part of the APP use status bar causes no full screen display, we have removed it, and the status bar operation only supports the mouse

I hope in a future firmware update the people at x92 will be able to bring back the navigation bar at the bottom so that it can be "pulled up" and seen or "pushed back down" and not be seen. I view the navigation bar to be one of the most useful tools on an Android TV box. I use the navigation bar on my Beelink GT1 all the time. It is so useful, especially when multitasking, one can see which apps are running in the background and close specific apps that you don't need running among other things.

NEW QUESTION: Does anyone know who makes the x92 , is there a website for the x92, and where one can find firmware updates for it on the web? There seems to be no mention of this in the box or on the web. Very strange. So far, I'm liking this TV box, except for the above personal issues (I know no TV box is perfect in every respect) [One search of mine seems to indicate a company called XGody may be the manufacturer of this tv box, but they appear to carry many different products and do not seem to have a webpage specific to this tv box]

        @mediaguy
I updated the firmware of X92 (Andorid 7.1.2 )yesterday(at 2017.12.12), and you can upgrade it through FOTA to meet your needs. I'm sorry, but we will modify the firmware problem according to customer needs.

Thank you for your support for this product.
        We changed the boot video.
        update kdplayer version to 17.6.

jiangsai0703, Thanks for the information regarding a new update, however, I do not seem to be able to update to it.

I just tried the "Update and Backup" app on my x92, I see the spinning circle while it is checking for an update and after a while I get the message... "Check Failed! Check Your OTA Service Argent" What should I do at this point? BTW, I am connected through cat6 ethernet cable to a gigabit network with 66Mbps download speed.

          My x92 specifications:
          model: x92_3GB
          Kernel: 3.14.29
          Build: 20171020.21.00
          Android version: 7.1.2
security patch level: August 1, 2017

If I try to update via either the x92 settings, or droid app settings, I get the message "System up to date."

          Any help would be appreciated.

Additional comment: I've recently noted that the x92 would periodically "freeze" and nothing can be done using the remote so the only option is to unplug the unit for 20 sec and then plug it back it in for a reboot. This seems to happen most often if the x92 is left idle for a while.

Hey just wanted to piggyback but I'm having similar issues also.

I purchased my x92 3g/32g and it runs great when playing games and anything else. After a day or less though, it will just freeze and any audio playing will repeat in an annoying glitch fashion. It happens in most apps or even when the TV box is idle on the home screen. I found that doing a factory reset of the box alleviates the issue for a few days but it quickly returns after using the box for a couple days. My Android version is 6.01, build number: 20161026, and ota version 1.0.5. Could this be due to me running an older firmware version. The build I have might be custom though, so the stock rom for the box might help.

jiangsai0703, would I install this firmware version locally through the ota app? and would this solve the freezing issue or is this hardware related?

jiangsai0703, I am not sure what you mean by FOTA app as there are no apps with that name in the app section. And, if you mean update under settings, about phone, system update, then I've tried that and as I said before, it says the system is up to date.

I was just able to get to the link you sent me. I'm having a difficult time getting the "q201-ota-root. zip" file (872.3Mb) downloaded though. It says (after translating to English)....

You download the file is too large, please use Baidu network disk client. It automatically downloaded a file called, "BaiduNetdisk_5.7.2.exe" instead of the q201 firmware. Is that the network disk client I'm supposed to use to get the firmware??? Is it safe to install and are directions in English???

Will the update itself be in English? I do not want an x92 where everything is written in a language other than English. And are there instructions for updating with this firmware as I do not wish to "brick' my x92.

                    Your help is appreciated.

UPDATE: Webpage is in Chinese and browser won't translate it. Tried the BaiduNetdisk.exe, but it's entirely in Chinese and no way to know what I'm doing with it. Please help. (could you possibly upload it to another site where it would be easier to just download the firmware update file?)

jiangsai0703, As you see from my photos, it's not the speed that's my problem. Baidu just doesn't allow me to download the file, saying it is too big. Baidu wants me to use their "netdisk software" that you can see in the picture wanting to be downloaded, in order to download the large file. However, when I try to use that Baidu netdisk file I can't because it's written all in Chinese which I don't understand and can't translate on the web. Additionally, the software appears to be asking for your user id and password, but I'm not sure as I don't read Chinese.

Do you have any further suggestions on how I might obtain this new firmware update?
