    Question about flashing Finless ROM

I am a newbie, just got my X7 this morning. And I want to flash the finless custom rom. The first problem I had was getting into flash mode... finally got that by pressing the pin before inserting the otg cable. It goes into flash mode and shows as found in the flash tool, but then it disconnects from my computer before I get a chance to select options in the flash tool. So I am afraid to try a flash.

I am running Vista 64 on my host computer. I am unsure what is the problem. Is there some sort of timeout??

I have tried it twice, and twice it has bonged out before I got a chance to do anything.

Sorry to say but Vista64 or 32 is the WORST Windows OS I ever used next to Win ME!
The major company I work for would not even roll that OS out.

I know that does not help you but even MS has left it behind.

My only recommendation is find a friend with Win7.

"Pardonne-leur car ils ne savent pas ce qu'ils font"
"Perdónalos porque no saben que lo que hacen"
"Oprosti im, jer ne znaju što čine"
"Forgive them as they know not what they do"

I appreciate the suggestion, but not really what I want to do. I have been running Vista for sometime and have a lot invested in it. I still get updates from Microsoft, so they haven't completely left it yet. I seem to get them every week, mostly security updates, but just this morning, I had 11 updates install from MS, only about 5 of them were security updates.

Anyway, no real problem. I just bit the bullet, got some b...s, and did it faster than the timeout could occur. Once the process started, it didn't timeout. And it appears to have worked! I have come a long way in 1 day.

Still have one problem, but I am not concerned. I tried the media player included and it had a real hard time getting anything from my Serviio host. And once it started playing (what it was able to get), it was extremely choppy. I am hoping that this will improve once I get MX player and XBMC installed. If it doesn't improve, I guess I am back to a Roku (it plays off my Serviio great... using Chaneru).

Try Archos Video Player - works a treat from my NAS box / home plug setup. No stutter on 1080 video & amazing quality!

Thanks for the tip! I will give it a try after I get my new mouse. The one that came yesterday only lasted a few hours before it died. I was just getting used to it and wham it just disappeared off the screen never to reappear, no matter what I did. So I filled out a return to Amazon and ordered another.

You don't happen to know a mouse that they do some burn-in on before selling? The one that died was a rc11 and it was okay for a short time. Very short.

My setup here just uses wifi for everything. Had a lot of problems when I started a few years ago, but once I installed the ASUS black knight router... it has been great since. I run Serviio on a Windows box and have all sorts of clients (phones, tablets, WDTV, etc, etc) with 6 grown-ups in the house, they stress Serviio pretty good. Until the black knight, it didn't work so well, but this ASUS router seems to have the needed bandwidth to pull it off (and nothing is hardwired, all on wifi).

I downloaded Archos from the Playstore and it looks nice, but it can't seem to find my Serviio UPNP sever. At least the media player that came with the unit, eMedia or something, was able to find the server, even if it couldn't do a good job playing videos.

Any ideas how to get Archos to find the server. I click on the UPnP option in Archos, and it scans, but finds nothing.

Usually clients that can't find Serviio at least find all the Windows media servers in the house - they all seem to be on, and I don't know what to do with them. But Archos didn't even find them. Just nothing. I had to run check to make sure the server was running. And GoodPlayer on my tablet found them all, about 4 different servers available.

I didn't want to discard Archos after I'd paid for it, just because it didn't find my server... so I tried the SMB option, and bingo!! That worked. The video plays great, and Archos found all the posters for them pretty fast. I wish the server was found, makes things easier, but SMB works good too.

Glad that you got it going. I sometimes have issues with Archos finding UPnP - but in the end it does it.

What I do miss (that my Mede8er MED500X has) is a decent remote control - that can stop / pause / rewind -fastforward. Plus my Mede8er software tags a video when I have watched it - very useful when watch multi episode TV series. Wish that my X7 could do this

Update : It looks like mVideoPlayer can tag videos as being watched. Will download it & give it a try.

                  Try this Remote Control App

                  @Pawnslinger

Try this remote here - works well on my Samsung GT-I9300 & Nexus 7.

Infinitely better than the Minix remote or my £20 airmouse!

                  Give it a whirl
