Hello Everyone.
New member, longtime android box lover. I have been setting up x96 mini boxes in Canada using the custom firmware found in this thread, dated oct 9 2017, then used the wirless update app to update to the firmware dated dec 2 2017. Today I noticed wireless update app claimed that oct 9 2017 version was "up to date", so i used the backup restore function to manually update using the p281-ota-root.zip file also found in this thread. Anyone know why "wireless update" app didnt do its thing?
I'm kinda of a half way skilled noob with the x96 mini box so any suggestions would be great

Here this is what I found after desperately searching for a recovery zip update on the net. The latest ROM dated 12Dec2017 from the official developer.
https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=%21AMj2sYBiFBYlTYA&cid=D6D3BC1471ABEFC8&id=D6D3BC1471ABEFC8%21618Store photos and docs online. Access them from any PC, Mac or phone. Create and work together on Word, Excel or PowerPoint documents.
Download the .zip file, copy it into a SD card/USB thumb drive. Boot into recovery by using a pin/micro screw driver, Clear Data/cache then update by selecting the ZIP file on your usb drive/card.
You should be able to boot into system again if you've bricked your box like me with reckless update of the SuperSU binary.
The ROM once installed is already rooted out of the box. No need for any Root Managers such as SuperSU or Magisk Manager. Apps will be granted root automatically when needed silently in the background.

Haha, thank you very much for your sharing. This software is provided by us.
Not everyone is brave enough to use the Amlogic Burning Tool and it doesn't guarantee to work on all PC because of driver misconfigurations. A to A USB cable is also rarely own by your customers.
The .ZIP file is easier because users can just copy into USB thumbdrive/SD card, plug it in, boot into recovery using pin, reset data and update .ZIP directly there.
It is much smaller in size 850MB vs 1.4GB for full .IMG.
