Have updated this on 3/16 DDR3, from Shonk's Mega repo. Stable. No issues so far.

As usual this is may be the result of a faulty power source.
Have done nearly every update of stock rom. Only one issue is still the not running wallpaper service. This is present since June 2017 and it is not a bug really for a TV box.

I use Top TV Launcher 2 from Playstore since months. This app has also a function for defining the wallpaper without the use of the Android wallpaper service.

Already running on a 3a power supply.

How do you people update? Just flash over with burning tool? Or is is somehow possible to keep settings?

Full flash always, with the SD card method. Debloading as first step. Launcher- Kodi settings and more are backed up at a different 32 GB SD card, so I can restore this.

I had to underclock my CPU to get it stable. Like i said i probably have a faulty device but that's okay. Gonna order a new one next year and hope I'll have more luck. I had a beelink one but bricked it. Much nicer than this one with a built in heatsink.

I use this firmware since 2 days now. Always on top I have the Cooltool app from Playstore. So I can watch the CPU load and temperature. This rom seems running more cool compared to the 20171010 and 20171121. While watching 1080p video on Kodi I got up to 80°C and with the latest build from 20171206 (same video, same Kodi, same room temperature) I get now 73°C. I saw on this rom that the Linux kernel was recompiled at the end of November. May be the 8 cores are now acting more effecient together, intially the main reason of this AMLOGIC CPU with 4x 1000 GHz and 4x 1500 GHz was to save battery on mobiles, really not important for a device already connected to a power supply. I have debloaded same way as ever: Subtitle service and pppoe are deleted. Also the ugly led-display app, loaded on boot, but unused because this device has no led display... Of course also the fake updater app was deleted at first with Titanium.

Beside of this the device is really stable, no issues with bootup, poweroff or CEC, it can be re-started by use of the remote after switching it off. Will stay with this stock rom from now, I think...

Nice. Can the launcher be changed?

I don;t think that You can do it with most launchers, but HALauncher should let You do it (there is even option to make it work with stock launcher, however it was thought for ATV).
Still if You freeze/disable or remove stock launcher, than it should just start the other one at boot.

aml_7.1_s912_q9377-S912_mac-20171206 is working well on my Gearbest (Wisdom) H96 Pro+. Was using s912_q9377-H96_KDMC17.3_50ME_600M_mac-20170918. Stability on the new ROM seems improved. Still get the odd app not responding message, but click wait and it proceeds. Nice that CEC seems to work better. Ethernet is direct wired but I tested both WiFi bands they seemed to work fine. Picture quality may be a bit better. So far no big issues.
