    Pipo M9 Max 4.2.2 RileyROM 1.9

Welcome to v1.9 for the Pipo M9 Max!!!!!!! This ROM is based on the official Pipo firmware released on 8/21/13.

I have updated this ROM to 1.9a, since only a day after I released the beta version, Pipo introduced an official version on their site with both 3g and wifi updates.

I don't know if the beta version had any differences to this one, but to err on the side of caution, I decided to produce a 1.9a ROM for both 3g and wifi.

    It is:

    Rooted
    Debloated
    Init.d support added
    Busybox commands added
    2, 4, 6, or 8gb user app space
    tun.ko added for VPN support

There was no change log for this...so "life is a box of chocolates".....you don't know what you'll get....sorry.

The ROM kit may look a little different. I changed to the Finless Flash Tool, I added a template for making your own CWM flashable ROM (only use to reflash THIS ROM ONLY from CWM, in case you need to...I don't recommend using it to flash different ROMs).

    Wifi Version

On 8/28, I posted another version based on a beta test release from Pipo. I originally posted it on post #89. I'm re-posting it here so others can find it more easily. The reason I didn't make this v2.0 is because it isn't really an official release......This was a 3G only release, but it should work on a wifi device, too.

Runs really fast. AnTuTu reports 17500 whereas I was getting 14300 with 1.8. Also the low volume issue has been addressed somewhat, it is now set at 87% rather than 81%. There is now an "Owner" tile in the settings pulldown, not sure about that yet, looks like a link to owner entry in Contacts.

Doesn't look like any new features (ie Multi User, Windows, etc) However, it does feel more responsive and benchmarks seem to back that up.

Only issue I ran into was related to titanium backup totally borking everything. I tried restoring app+data and it would not boot afterward. Then I tried manually re-installing apps from the store and just restoring data for a few selected apps. Those apps would then just stop immediately after starting. I cleared data and tried reinstalling then, but play store refused. Reflashed and gave up on titanium and all is well.

Thanks for the report. I was worried that nobody was going to try it...hahaha. It must be a busy week for everyone.

Which restore did you do in Titanium?
I always "restore missing apps with data" and it usually works ok. Stay away from restoring system data when you flash to a new ROM. The data format changes quite a bit between ROMs.

Please, someone could try video calling on Skype in this new ROM?

          Thanks!

My backup must have been screwed because it was missing the apps, only contained data. I'll try again before we get the WiFi version of 1.9. Overall I'm pretty impressed. Seems much quicker than 1.8.

Oh confirmed the 'owner' tile is indeed just a link to a popup with your personal contact profile. I wonder if this is setting up for multi user? Hmmmmmm...

@Cauan - I'll try to get someone on Skype tomorrow.

                Just flashed it this morning.

                Build Number shows 20130606

WLAN still not good, it keeps disconnecting and the reception is bad. Maybe a hardware issue if no one else is noticing this.

I will play with it today and post this evening, if there is something worth telling.

                Bootanimation is working!

                Thanks for your work!

                Regards

I saw those late last night while I was at work.

I think this is the same version as my 1.9 that I posted yesterday...but I only had a 3g version to work with. I have this one and the M7 to work on now.

If the 3G version is different, I will replace it with this new official release and post v1.9 for all of the other versions.

                      Thanks for the post!!!!!!!

Guys, has the freaking display flickering issue disappeared? I disabled hardware overlay in 1.8 and it kept flickering to a minimum even if brightness is low. Still a tiny bit noticeable at times, though...
Randy, when will you be able to confirm whether today's pipo 3G release is the same as this one? Thanks!!

It might be a little different...this is a beta, and the other is an official release.

I will make both the wifi and 3g versions and just call the 3g v1.9a. Then, if you want, you can compare yourself. I would hate to miss getting the most up-to-date version because I thought they were the same. It's a little more work, but I want to make it right.

Thanks, Randy. You're the best. I'll probably wait for 1.9a, unless the flickering is really gone in this one. Please let there be good news...
