MK908 Screen Flickering/shadowing issue (1080p) on home screen

Hi All not sure if anyone can help I have just purchase a MK908 and would set it up to connect to my Samsung TV, everything looks fine until I have switch to 1080p hdmi mode from the settings menu. The screen will start flicker\shadow every 3 to 6 seconds. I have try to connect with real power from the AC and still the same result. I have tried to change it back to 720 and everything looks fine, not sure if anyone have this problem. Please kindly help out

Same problem with a Sony TV ... change your firmware, some works well like Lewy 1.1.2 (I do not test 1.2.1) firmware or hoaby v1.4

I just bought my first android stick i.e mk908 ii. But when I connect it to my TV (LG) it boots fine but after a few seconds on home screen the HDMI output (both audio and video) shuts down for a couple of seconds and then it comes back automatically. It happens irregularly and upto 4-5 times a minute. I’ve replaced every cable and yet it keeps on flickering. Bought it from Geekbuing. Any idea, thoughts? I did try the stick with another TV (samsung) and its the same result with it as well. I also tried connecting power USD directly to a USB source (1A , 1.5A, 2A) and also via the power adapter that came with it. Again no change.

Did you flash or is the stick still with the original rom (tronsmart 908ii? ) I have to ask just in case it clone? Have you tried these first? Change hdmi cable (box not totally resetting just the screen dropped right? ) And check to make sure connected properly. Then check resolution settings on tv and on 908ii
Many devices now mk902ii/Shield/Mk68 /Ugoos/neox5/minix5 (yes they still work lol) mk80 no it doesnt work lol.

Yes, I havent flashed any ROM still using original rom. Changed all sort of hdmi cables (that came with the package, female to male additional hdmi cable), tried all sort of power inputs. And yes its just the blank screen for a couple of seconds and then it comes back.. If I am running a movie on it, it keep on playing while the screen is blacked out with no sound. Also, checked resolution both are on 720p. Desperately trying to fix it to start using it properly... Thanks for ur help.

OK if your OK with flashing roms the re flash the latest Rom release from tronsmart and if same persist then send the unit back may be defective, Dont try custom roms until you know issue resolved in standard ROM.

Just my thoughts if I got one and it didn't work out of the box I would simply return. If you Google it you will find videos.

well the thing is I had previosuly order an MK802 IV which pretty much had the same issue and this one mk908 II has the flickering issue as well. So I am sure I am doing something wrong at my end. Also looking at this thread folks with various devices had the same issue as me. I'd like to ask them if and how did they solved this issue in particular.

I'm having similar issues with my MK908 as freakbrave. But I have flickering no matter which resolution I choose. By flickering I mean the screen goes black (and with it the sound is gone as well) for just a blink of an eye, and then comes back (as if I just pulled the HDMI cable out, and plugged it back instantly). Sometimes only the sound stops, and the screen just shakes a bit. This happens irregularly, but it seems like, the more the device is stressed, the more often it happens. I've also tried everything freakbrave had, even flashed the new 1.8 Finless ROM. Still the same. The only thing I've left to try is a stronger AC adatpor (3A). This is my last hope unless someone has any ideas. I really like this device, but this flickering makes it unusable, and me insane.

                          Hey,

I'm getting the same behavior with MK908II. It has been running fine since past two months, then suddenly started the flickering behavior. with my investigation so far, I think it is a heat issue. The device does not have good cooling mechanism. If i run a fan beside it to have it cool while playing videos, it runs just fine without any issue ... and as soon as i stop the fan it becomes pretty hot in no time and the screen starts flickering.

try with some cooling alternatives to see if that also rectifies your issues.

Well thats worth a try, thanks. But I wouldn't be very happy having to run a fan all the time. The main reason I chose an android minipc is its completely silent operation and low power consumption thus being able to run all the time.

oh yes, for sure running a fan beside it all the time is very odd. I just said that it will help determine if heating is indeed the cause of flickering.
