Suggestions Required for Removing A Stubborn Heatsink

Long story short, my device does not power on and everything I've tried does not work so the last resort is popping the hood open and using the pin method.

I've scanned the forums and many get their heatsinks of by just twisting, others have used hair dryers and some even nail remover, I'd tryed:

    1. Pulling carefully without too much pressure (failed).
    2. Twisting back and forth little by little (failed).
    3. Leave the device on for awhile then twist (failed). Stick is not producing heat.
    4. Hair dryer heating the heatsink and then little twists over and over (failed).
    5. Nail remover, rather not use this method. (Not Tested).
    6. Isopropanol IPA Alcohol 99.9 Pure. (Not Tested).

At the moment I'm thinking of purchasing the isopropanol, through I'm open to suggestions that people may have... This is one stubborn heatsink and it looks like they over did it with the glue.

I've tried loads, the problem is the heatsink gets so hot I can hardly hold it... If I keep repeating this process its for sure going to kill the processor.

I had to work a razor blade under one edge very carefully and eventually I was able to pry from that side.
If my work benefits you and you want to help out the cause, feel free to

Twisting back and forth little by little worked fine me.

          good luck.

use a welding glove and a heat gun to get you a little hotter and the glove to prevent the burning. or try a decent leather glove

Credit card method. Put a credit card, or plastic ID of some sort in between the circuit board and the heatsink, then push a small flat head screwdriver in between the heatsink and the card. worked like a charm for me and many others. Good luck.

A thin and sharp blade should do the trick, try a Dual Edge shaving razor blade. Should be able to get them at your local drug store/chemist/shopping centre.
