JVC Smart TV LT-55n685A , wanting better firmware ( rooted ) with cpu/sound tweaks

Just bought this 55" tv and only 1 of the cores is running and its only doing 100 - 500mhz

    out of the 2ghz ...

what can I do to improve the android system?

so far its not playing much of my multimedia and having issues with sound

All the cores are running if there is more load.
The benchmark app is not accurate.
Also the maximum speed is only 1.5ghz, the 2.0ghz is false advertising from Amlogic.
There is not much you can do as you will brick your tv if flashing other firmware and their won't be a way to restore it if it's even possible to flash it.
You can try installing SPMC or MXPlayer for video playback.
You won't have pass-through sound with it.

      Thanks for the reply
been trying with Kodi but only 1 core ever works

so trying to flash will kill more than just the android smart tv side?

as far as I am concerned the TV's useless in its current state I should have gotten the non smart TV version for $200 less and used a media player ...

        Exactly.
Lots of tv's with built in smart features run very old Android versions(KitKat, Lollipop) mostly with 1GB RAM and 4GB storage which won't work good with today's apps and videos.
'Android TV' tv;s running Nougat firmware works well but are mostly a lot more expensive, much better to get a separate tv box.

what is the best box to get these days that does hevc etc with optical or SPDIF out?

still would not mind forcing a flash if the DTV / PVR will still be ok

this thing will not even run my 720p x.264 , runs stuff 10 years old fine :P

Thanks heaps for the heads up on SPMC
seems to work great, sounds fine and so far 1080p is running
going through my test samples will be stoked if my atmos blurays will work :P
