Mecool...SMB problems...UHD stuttering M8S Pro L. *SOLVED*

Im sorry for the rant. I just so fed up with those crappy Mecool boxes.

Until now i have had a Intel NUC which has worked flawlessly, but i got myself a 4K TV, and was thinking about a new HTPC. So I bought a Mecool m8S Pro Plus. Of course this had the bad MMC, so useless from day one. I got a $25 refund of a $50 buy. SO i bought a M8S Pro L instead. From day one there were something wrong with the network. Nothing played from my NAS due to this (Win 2016 server, SMB). I bought a USB3 to Ethernet adapter, so the network is working on everything else than UHD movies. UHD just stutters, unplayable.

I am think of updating to a new ROM, but i dont have a Update app, and cannot find any on the Google store. And it has no reset button either, so update impossible. I am just going to run over both boxes with my car, and be done with it. Edit: Im stupid, Terminal Emulator and reboot update worked of course. My bad.

So my question is...can anyone recommend a quality box thats working, with HDR and Dolby Vision? I am tired of the chinese crap boxes, so preferably a NUC, since it has worked so well over may years...

Plz don't by android tv box ever again I don't like mecool because thermal ,but you are first man who said that he got 3 crap units ,On libreelec and android - and you have problems with smb - you can ask for refund

Sorry again for complaining, frustration just got the best of me after all these hours of failing.

I finally had the sense of trying a UHD movie from a USB stick, and lo and behold, its working. I don't know why i never tried, i just think it was because i never had network problems on the NUC.

The funny thing is that it is working on MCMR app on Apple TV 4K...plays UHD perfectly...with SMB. So its something with this box for sure. Does anyone have a suggestion for me to try? Would be must appreciated. :/

Yes, give LibreELEC a try, it should work flawlessly. You can then dual boot. I don't have any UHD videos to test, but all of my BlueRay movie rips stored on my NAS's play perfectly from the Android Kodi.

Ok, updated to 8.90.11a from here https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread/10...-9-x-for-s912/ and now it works! Finally!! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, you have no idea of the level of frustration i have endured I have edited the headline, based on the fact that the idiot was me, not the box hehe. Thanks again!!
