    Video playback on cx-919

    Hi forum
I got my cx-919 a few days ago.
After 5 different roms and going through all known video players on play store i have not been able to play 720p mkv videos
    Without stuttering playback.
I am playing the viedos from my NAS and i only have problems with the cx-919.

What am i missing? I hope i havent wasted time and money on something with the same media support as my old Tegra 2 tablet.

      Yes i have
with different kernels. But still the same result.
The video playback is actually worse compared to stock rom.
Stock rom 720p was not smooth but with latest finless i get a total stop every5th second.
I dont know if my unit somehow is defect since i cant get it working.
Have tried with mxplayer and hw+ codec and also custom codec.
When testing lan speed i get great transfer rate.

      Hope someone can clarify.

No one else has this problem so I think you have some other issue going on.
Remember power supplies are important here! A bad one or power from TV with USB is not stable.

i second that. On stock PSU, the stick keeps rebooting everytime it hit 1.6ghz (stable at 1.4ghz though). The cheapest way to buy PSU is to go to Goodwill (or any Thrift store) and look for a good PSU (it costs about 99 cents or 1.49). My stick is now on Samsung PSU (5v 4A) and it's rock solid (no more random reboot)

            Thanks for the suggestions.
But i still havent figured out the choppy playback.
I have no reboots new 2amp power supply fixed that.
Wifi seems to be the bottleneck which is very strange since the stick has wireless N support.
I never get better than a 54mbit conection and real life file transfer speeds are very slow and inconsistent in speed.
Never had this problem with phones computers or tablets connected to the same router.

Should i get a ethernet adapter or can wifi performance be fixed using different kernels?

Have you tried moving your antenna around? I Only ask because I had the same issue and pointing my antenna In different directions made a huge difference.

If you're having wifi issues maybe try to create a wifi bridge using DDWRT and a refurbed Netgear router from NewEgg. The CX919 comes with a USB to Ethernet adapter and it works very well. I was able to get 35Mbps/6Mbps using an unpowered junky USB 2.0 hub.

This router works awesome with DDWRT. I put it in a friends 6000Sq Ft home. It easily filled half his home.

Here's the DDWRT firmware upgrade instructions. It's very easy. Don't forget to set the Antenna Gain and Max TX power. Those 2 settings are key.
