    Ah !!
    Different if no lid !

I would use some double sided foam tape (normally cheap 3m type Chinese copy is good.)

I put small pads on each corner to mount on HS and thicker, small tripple layer pads on top at each corner - do not remove top backing layer so they don't stick to the lid.
Then gently screw on the lid to leave an air gap above the fan and round the edge of the lid.

If you can't screw on the lid try with small pieces of tape at each corner to leave the air gap.
See what temps are like in this set-up ...

    Pete

60C sounds pretty good, so I wouldn't bother with a hole.

Then fan and the varied speed works but I haven't found a way to open a hole to put the fan in. Is there a problem if it sits on top of the std heatsink? I get 60C with Stress CPU. Is this a good load temp?

and a good position for 0V from the Ethernet port shroud

    Hi,

    Fitted in my Pro L
    Too loud @ 5V
    Slight noise at 3.3V
Fitted 20ohm resistance and runs very quietly at about 3V (from USB 5V supply)

Fitted my Pro+ lid as hasn't got a hole in it !!!!
This gives a nice 2mm gap all round the lid - I would space a Pro L lid to do the same.

    Very Nice

    Running Temps ...
    Ambient 19°C
    Idle 46°C
    StressCPU 100% ~ 65°C
    KODI - 60Hz Loop 250mbps hevc 4K - 57°C
    YouTube - Venom HD 1080p - 52°C

Forgot to say this box has a base Cu-Plate so temps lower than std. by about ~5°C

    20 Ohm resistance
    Tried 15 Ohm for approx 3.3V (used 33 // 33)
    Settled on 20 Ohm for approx 3V (used 100//100 for 50 and paralleled 33 e.g 50//33 to get 20 as I didn't have a 20 Ohm !!!)

In this picture there is a spare 33 Ohm from testing 16 Ohm ...

That's great, but $ 5.92 is expensive compared to my currency, if I choose free shipping, I'll be forced to pay $ 3.70 for mailing. Summing up almost $ 10 and a few months of sprinting. But I have good expectations for this fan.
