Hi guys, I just recieved this item from gearbest, it comes with latest OTA friwmare built on 16 March 2018. This is new unit from factory I guess, maybe it will be better than yours. What .apk should I use for cpu temp? And how do I isntall it? How on normal android? Can i just use usb stick? I installed AIDA64 from GP, shows 52C standy, is it okay or abnormal?

Thanks, P.X. Where and how did you mount the switch?

KSD970 - In-situ testing using thermal paste - Quick results for my test samples

    KSD9700 NO
    40C - Tested Closes at 41.2C
    45C - Tested Closes at 47.5C

45C - Installed in Pro L with std. Heatsink and 30mm Pi Fan
    All at ambient 21C

    20% CPU at 1500mHz
Fan switches On at 55C CPU-Temp
    Reset to Off at 47C Cpu-Temp - Fan cycles Off-On-Off ...

Idle Box - Leanback Launcher screen
    Fan stays Off - CPU-Temp 48-50C (Ambient 21C)

    Summary
    40C
    - Not tested but the 40C - May switch on when idling dependant on ambient temp. Switch on with any increased load.

    45C
    - 45C KSD9700 will not start the fan when idling .. will cycle the fan when watching YouTube etc. .. Will keep the fan on when using higher load apps.

    50C
    - Not tested - Should start fan when there is an appreciably high load but stay off when lower load like YouTube is in use.

    55C
    - Over-temp protection - Only switches on at high temperatures.

    HTH
    YMMV

Please read back through this thread for specifics.
You have to choose resistor based on Fan resistance and desired voltage.
Lots of posts on methods of determining ...

Power to the box is power to the UART 3.3V Pin.
That is why we have moved to using 5V USB power with resistors.

You could use the UART 3.3V with a KSD9700, but that is more expense (resistor is about 10-20p / 20cent)
    Depends on personal preferences ...

Typo/Brain Fade !!! that should be " ...to get to Switch-ON Temp."

    Nominal-55C Switch
    Switch ON Temp 78C (CPU-Temp -- Probe Temp 53.6C)
    Switches OFF at 68C (CPU-Temp)

    I'll try a 40C when it arrives ...

The trouble is these little switches have pretty wide manufacturing tolerances can be +/- 5C of nominal ON Temp and OFF defined as ON-15C(+/-5C)

Has to be well attached thermally to get to switch-off temp !

I am guessing a 45 or 50 switch would be better.

Item number 322989226698 on the Bay UK - Great seller. Super fast delivery.

The Normally Open version of KSD 9700 is needed - It has a crossed out Tower Kanji on it.
Some sellers show wrong version in pictures (same pic for both?)
Write a note - Must be version Open Circuit at Room Temp.

5V is too fast and noisy for me.
3.3V UART supply is not switched.
3.3V or less is good speed for cooling and less noisy - I use a small resistor to get correct voltage/speed - see previous posts.
Best fan I have tried is Pi Fan @ about $1.21 on the Bay and comes with 4xscrews and nuts (not needed but it shows you which type I bought)

All the info should be somewhere in this thread.
Top-side 5V USB is only on a little resistor by the USB socket - very careful soldering required (see my vid)
Underside 5V is much easier and safer to solder to ....
