Tanix TX92 - lost kodi (TV Center)

After receiving the Tanix TX92, I updated the firmware @ their site - as mentioned in their pamphlet.
The firmware install went well... message @ end "firmware updated".

Everything loaded up and was functional afterwards... However, the large TV Center Icon now was titled "Null" and non-functional... no Kodi.

I went to the Tanix site and messaged them from there about the issue. After one week I had not heard a reply; so I tried again.

I have tried to install Kodi and I get a message that another Kodi install in the system is preventing a new install.

When I go to settings all I see is a Kodi addons updater which is part of the system apps and there is no uninstall feature for it.

If I look thru folders, I don't see any references to Kodi or TV Center

In the meantime I am using another Home Launcher and have set-up the system to my liking and is working fine (except I have no Kodi)

But regardless, I would like to get the box set-up as was originally intended form the developer... still waiting for their reply which I have a feeling there will be no reply to me from Tanix @ this point.

any advice on what I need to do @ this point ? Thanks in advance.

You have to erase data while updating, when you do that you'll find TV Center banner as it is and opens Kodi normally.

Is "erase data" same as "back-up and reset" ?
I did the backup and reset and still the same... still missing TV center. The back-up is a ditto too

Try simply doing a factory reset... I think it's in the storage options. This will obviously erase all of your data, though.

If that doesn't work, a 'clean' flash of the firmware using USB Burning Tool or Burn card maker should bring it back for sure. You'll need a USB Type A M/M cable to flash using USB Burning Tool, and/or an SD card for Burn Card maker. You'll also need a pin of some sort to reach the reset button located in a small hole in the back.

Personally I prefer using USB Burning Tool. I've never actually used burn card maker before, but others have used it with success.

USB Burning Tool can be found here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/0s5q2...v2.0.8_x86.rar
And this is how I flash all of my android boxes: http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...354#post601354

          Sorry for the late reply.

          What I did exactly:
I flashed using a microsd card with the update app that is pre-installed.
Within the update app (icon of cloud with an arrow facing upward) you'll find the second option "UpdateLocale" under this option select both "Wipe Data" and "Wipe Media" and then press "Select" button on the right to choose the update file on the microsd and let the app do its work and after the update and reboot you'll find everything as it was out from the box, then you can start installing whatever you had before, do not restore from backup.

Thanks for the responses - Are these suggestions any different than what I have already done twice according to Tanix:

            1. Copy the .ZIP to a TF Card or USB memory.
            2. Plug it to your TV Box.
            3. Open UPDATE APP already pre-installed.
            4. Press "Select" and choose the .ZIP file.
            5. Press "Update" and wait.
Did this twice and still have no TV Center...
I also did the above by pressing the 'reset' button on the box with a pin (as suggested in the pamphlet that came with the box).

Weird, I've done exactly what I described (which is the same as what you posted from Tanix) and I had TV Center on the first page which opened Kodi as usual.
I have made an update before that without wiping data and media and as you got I had Kodi messing with "Null" written on the main screen but when I did it again like I described exactly I had everything normal as usual.
You can try Factory reset once more and then do an update using the same steps again and hopefully this time you will get it sorted out.

                Follow-up:
Did the same thing but this time selected 'Wipe Data and Media' - The box rebooted and everything original is there again

Made a screen copy of this page just in case I forget in the future

                Thanks guys !!!

You didn't select Wipe Data and Wipe Media before, that is the main step that I informed that should be made for everything to work normally.
So, anyway, congrats on the successful upgrade and happy watching.

Originally before I posted here I did not select the data/wipe since the original Tanix pamphlet did not mention it for the firmware update. Only after I saw your post is when I applied the Data/Wipe media selector.
Thanks again for the help samkatta.
