    Just got a CS918

I've installed XBMC, TV Portal etc and it seems to be working well with a good strong WiFi signal.

It's doing everything I expect from it so is there any advantage in flashing a new custom rom?

Any tips from more experienced users of this box on how to get the best from it?

    hi
at the moment, the other roms have advantages but big disadvantages too...
you'll get 1080p interface (much sharper) and play back 1080p video pretty smoothly, but the device will just shut off while you are using it, quite often.

there are some other tweaks that have made things faster etc, but for the moment IMO there isnt a compelling argument to change roms, not untill 1.2.2+ is stable.

    mark.

I have the same looking box, just called hi718, and I haven't gor any shut off yet. I use the original adapter it shipped with and using european voltage (called 240V/50Hz now). Do you have any application that causes shut off or is it simply overheating kind of problem? (I have 1.2.2 1080p version installed)

        Hi
The spontaneous power-off happens with any app it seems, and cannot be from overheating as it happens even after a few minutes of being on... and does not happen with any other ROM, only 1.2.2 set to 1080/50

          I was on the 720 version (1.2.2/cs918)
Random reboot / shutdowns.. even tried unclocking.. and other powersupply...still no joy
The feedback on 1.2.0 looks good..

If you are happy on the stock.. then be happy
If wish to go custom read the user-feedback... make a backup..

          Remember..
New doesn't always mean better... if you are unshore then don't... Cheers
