    Hi.

Have you flashed your stick by any chance? If not I would really appreciate it if you could check the firmware installed on your stick.

    Thanks,

    Zak.

I have not done anything to it right now, other than opening it up and taking photos. Tell me what you want me to check, and I'll do it.

      "Vendor software version" is "R3066_R-BOX_ANDROID4.2.2.2-SDK_V1.0.0_130308"
      "Kernel version" is "3.0.36+, zs@hotack-desktop #188"
      "build-number" is "r30sdk-eng 4.2.2 JDQ39.zs.20130627.110610 test-keys"

I imagine, that you would like to have a backup of the firmware - No problem, I will just have to figure out how to do it :-). However, I will only have time to do it tomorrow night.

I have the same problem. Any solutions for this yet? Anyone have a backup image?

Is it possible to include Firmware for the AP6210 Wifi module in one of the Custom ROMs?

I have in my MK808B (bought by amazon.de for a few days ago) the same chip namely:

            Current WiFi chip is AP6210.
            <4>[ 24.670101] dhd_bus_select_firmware_name_by_chip: firmware_path=/system/etc/firmware/fw_RK901a2.bin

It means, you can use any Kernel with RK901 WIFI & Firmware with your MK808B! Of course you will have no Bluetooth

            For example I used :MK808B_digitopMod_v2.1_WALKMAN (30.08.2013) Kernel: 720p, Android: 4.1.1

            It was Okay without Bluetooth.

I have also made a backup of this stock Rom/Kernel, I can give it to you! I am still trying to upload this original stock Kernel here.

I also used this Stock/Kernel in Finless 2.1 with success! (WIFI&Bluetooth)

Yes please upload this somewhere. I'm really interested. Maybe use depositfiles.com ? Or something like that.

Here is stock kernel for MK808B with:

                Current WiFi chip is AP6210.
                <4>[ 24.670101] dhd_bus_select_firmware_name_by_chip: firmware_path=/system/etc/firmware/fw_RK901a2.bin

Here is my modified Finless ROM 2.1 CWM_ROM_21K.zip with this kernel!
I installed this *.zip file using CWM recovery and it seems to me my new MK808B is doing well

Thank you for the information! I have the same Stick (WLAN+BT Chip = AP6210).
Finless ROM 2.1 works fine with the stock kernel (AnTuTu = 9769). No problems. The WiFi-Connection runs perfect.

Hi - were some links removed here? I have this same clone, and wifi doesnt work on any of the roms I've tried:

Neo x5 official & custom, Rikomagic 802IIIs BT S8B_1080P_AP6210_130902_V1.0 (wifi worked but BT disconnects after 20 secs) & MK802IIIS8B0428 update and recovery, Clone Cxy_rk30_mk808b_130710...

Its hard to find a combo of rk3066 and ap6210 with BT, I have no idea how to separate out kernels from the monolithic img files that come with most roms.

I also have the same exact clone and unfortunately, I don't have a backup of stock. So now I can't use wifi or BT. I did find one ROM that seemed to work for both, but it caused random reboots quite frequently. And searching on here it seems that others had the same problem. So is there any way that the links could be posted again please?

Thanks! You seems to be only hope. How did you install CWM on your device? Any link with instructions would help.

nishant, do you have a copy of the file that he was referring to? I'm still desperately looking for any ROM that will work again. I was hoping for stock, but at this point I will take anything. I am running finless 2.1, but i'm getting very frequent and very random reboots (every minute or less.) So this modified version may help.

I keep seeing posts about links in this thread, but i can't seem to find the actual links. it's like they've been edited out.

As far as CWM goes, I have instructions on how to install that. I will have to dig out that link for you and post it. it was fairly simple.

To get CWM up and running, first I downloaded this file here to my SD card. Then i renamed the file to "update.zip"

Now just turn on your MK808B and insert the micro sd card. The system will inform you find a new update and ask if you want to install. Click "yes" and the system will reboot, and install CWM.

How to check if you have succesfully installed?
