    Pipo M7 Pro RileyROM 1.4

Pipo released a new firmware for the M7 Pro on 9/2/2013, and I have created a new ROM based on this release.

    This ROM is:

    Rooted
    Debloated
    CWM Recovery added (optional)
2, 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12g user app space (by selecting the desired parameter file)
    Wifi tweaks
    Performance tweaks

    Artwork by Tattman65
    Reboot app by Petrus

And lots of support from the whole Freaktab Development Team!!!!! I just want everyone to know how enjoyable it is working with these guys literally from all over the world!!!!!!

And special thanks to Eric at Geekbuying.com for sending me an M7 Pro to develop with. I haven't received it yet...it is somewhere between here and China, but DHL should be quick.

    Anyway...here is the download link:

    Download

    Enjoy!!!!!!

Hi, I don't see the release on Pipo website, is the base from official source?

Hello rrileypm, Thanks for your work.
Ist this version also for the 3G Modell?

Do you have an original rom, just in case a warranty case should come (with root not really good), or someone else?

            GPS major issue

Thanks Randy for the new ROM. It runs smoothly, and as far as I can tell a bit faster ran the stock one.

I have the WiFi version; it’s an impressing device by so many aspects.

However, the GPS is quiet a big disappointment. It does work in the open air, but fails to operate in a car, when it’s not practically attached to the window.
I’m wondering whether this is a major HW issue or there is any software workaround that can improve the situation.

                Hello,
                @thehobit
I had a tablet with the same problem, the GPS did not work. Also on stock rom.
Only with another tablet worked better. I think its a Hardware Problem

                @Rileypm
I have a problem that some applications does not work well.
                Example Angry Birds.
Here comes the Rovio start screen and the sound, but the screen is still standing there. I can hear the ingame sound and also hear actions on my entries, but the Bildschim show the white Rovio screen.
When I press the back button, I see the game inside for a short moment.
I go back to the home screen and open the game, although I see the game inside, but again have no screen update for sound an entriens.
Other Games have the same problem. App Just Pictures. No Action to tab a Picture. Use the Backbutton i see the Picture for a short moment.

With the stock rom I do not have these problems.
Maybe thome problems with the gpu drivers or the memory mannagement?

I install the 1.4 Rom without any changes. Homescreen and other apps (gmail...) works normaly

Thanks for help, Sorry for my english.;-)

                  Pipo M7 Pro RileyROM 1.4

The good news is that I should be getting my M7 to test...hopefully today or tomorrow.

I'll try to figure this out for us.

I'm not sure why this happens on my rom but not stock...unless there is some kind of DRM problem with rooted devices.

@Rileypm – thanks for your efforts, I’m hopeful that something can be done.

                    Update:

After upgrading from 1.3 to 1.4, the GPS could not sync even in the open air. Then I decided to revert back to 1.3.
Few words about the process: after flashing 1.3 over 1.4, the device was booting into recovery only, and I could not do much. It took my breath away but thankfully, the manual had a procedure to recover that too. I installed again 1.3 following the procedure, and this time I received a message in the consul about a write error. I tried again, and by the 3rd try, I got 1.3 back to work. Now the GPS is working somehow in the open air.

                    Few questions if you will:
                    1. I was trying to use W7 x64, USB 3 port, and could not make it work in any way (windows was installing drivers automatically, it was not possible t changed it to the drivers provided in the package). Eventually I was using a good old Win XP without any issues.
                    2. What is the best way to backup the apps and user data before flashing? I tried to use Titanium but it was not quite reliable

                    Thanks.

I just received my M7 today. I'm playing with it. Out of the box...GPS doesn't work. I don't think this is the latest firmware. Also out of the box the new Pipo launcher isn't installed. Otherwise everything seems to work.

First impression is that this thing is really nice and smooth. I'm testing stock for a while before flashing my ROM.

The Rock chip drivers will not work with USB 3.0. There aren't any drivers available for this. I did get it to work by turning USB 3.0 off in the bios on my Windows 8 laptop. I don't have any USB 3 devices, anyway.

Hi! Thank you for your amazing ROM!

First of all I'm using this version, RileyROM 1.4 (on my Pipo M7 Pro 3G).

When I flashed my device I decided to use the "12GB parameter" because I want to install a lot of apps + games on the Internal Storage and then use a 64GB MicroSD-card to put my music, video and pictures.

Now after a couple of hours installing apps It got stuck on the status "Downloading..." when trying to download and install more from Google Play.

Then I went to "Settings" -> "Storage" and found the following:

                        INTERNAL STORAGE
                        Total space: 11,81GB, Available: 9,60GB, Apps: 1,68GB, Cached data: 7,56MB, Misc: 436MB

NAND FLASH (listed as a SD-card)
                        Total space: 2,66GB, Available: 47,56MB, Apps: 2,01GB, Cached data: 15,23MB, Misc: 436MB

                        Image: http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/1372/6b7x.jpg

... and now I can't download anything even though I have 11,81GB of free space?
What's wrong? What's the difference between Internal Storage and NAND Flash? Are the apps mixed on both storages? Shouldn't it be using the Internal Storage to install apps?

                        Thank you!

EDIT: Oh.. Maybe I should choose 6GB instead of 12GB. 50% apps and 50% data? Is that correct?

                          I could solve the problem.
It was the App velis auto bright.
Im not happy with the automatic brightness in stock then I use this app. After uninstall the app, no screen freeze in Angry Birds and Just Pictures.

                          Question to all:
anyone knows a matching mini hdmi cable or adapter gets a connection? The Port is so far in the case that none of my plug works.

                          THX
                          Greetings

Re: Pipo M7 Pro RileyROM 1.4

After a day of using my new M7 Pro I'm pleased to report no problems and an Antutu score of 18704...pretty good.

Some people are reporting freezing while playing games. While I'm not into gaming much I did experience one freeze while copying some pictures to the internal SD from the external SD. There has to be a glitch when using NAND flash memory...something that games do a lot. Maybe this is something that Pipo can fix.

The screen quality is amazing. Those pictures I copied over really pop out!!!!

It is just me...but my fingers are still getting used to the screen format. While typing this post I'm training myself to type without hitting the wrong keys with Thumb keyboard. It is different enough to explore a different layout.

I want to thank Eric at Geekbuying for sending me this little jewel.

In comparison to other Pipo tablets...it is slightly larger than my M5...but fits the same case. The screen is halfway between the wide short 7" format and the tall skinny 9.4" format on the M8 Pro. Just enough of a difference to confuse my thumbs.

Overall, I really like this model!!!!!!
