    Temp Unroot Amlogic S905

My android box has root access, however, I wish to temporarily suspend the root, to install another broadcaster app. It detects the root, and will not install.
I have tried ota rootkeeper, but it will not give me the option to suspend.
    It is a K1 Plus DVB-T S2 Amlogic S905 Quad core 64-bit Cortex A53 with Android 5.1

I have libreelec working on this box too, and it boots directly from a card, but when Kodi comes up, the option is there to reboot from internal.
I thought it may be because libreelec was running, however, I posted the same problem in the libreelec forums, but they tell me libreelec has nothing to do with "roots"
Either way, it will not now play my Aussie Optus Sport app, which it did prior to updating the app this week...it now reports that the box is a rooted device, and will not now work on their app.
Hmmm..I am at a brick wall now, as it must be the factory firmware or something that has the root in it?
I went into "developer mode" but there is nothing in there about disabling/enabling the root. I have sent an email to videostrong (box maker) but nothing back from there either.
So, how does a buyer know if the box they are purchasing, is "rooted" or not, and as such, how can we be sure loading on apps like I am trying, will ever work on factory rooted devices?
    Thanks...
