Can't get Google Play to properly download files

I can get Google Play open and it will search but when I go to download a file I get an error message, any help?

Since this was posted in a seperate thread...

The procedure itself is in the sticky at the top of the Polaroid Tablets page, not sure if we want seperate threads for questions like this or just have them pile on in the sticky. I would tend to lean to seperate questions and then as they are FAQ, then move into the sticky. But ehh, its early yet

I just went through the N4RPS method just fine. Just have to follow along step by step. The only real problem I had was downloading some adware off of qfpost accidentally.
You can find a couple links to Gapps here:
    http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/3...age-available/

Then I installed Gmail so I could set up my account this way my paid apps transfer over:
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1091566

I also had a copy of the new market that you can get here and install afterwards:
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877330

The other thing you need to remember doing it this way is the locations
for the SD card it is:
    /mnt/sdcard
I had just copied over the whole folder so that goes in as :
    /mnt/sdcard/gapps-gb-20110828-signed/system/app
At step 6 he mentions changing the permissions, ths is a small box right tward the top of the screen
Then when he is talking about changing the permissions he shows it like it works out. If you need an example try long clicking on the settings.apk just above and check how it is set up

I have root explorer installed in the tablet but I go into the sdcard folder and it doesnt see the gapps-gb-2011828-signed folder in the sd card folder

but the file viewer that comes with the tablet sees that folder...

Hang tight. I am going to have a patcher for you guys today. It should work on your Tab unlike my scripted version. This will be an APK and a ZIP package. APK was created by Petrus for my 1.5 ROM and it will prompt for superuser access unlike my script.

Well I hope it work anyway. I should have it up in an hour.

Thanks, I had previously tried the SuperOneClick app and it worked and it gave me a super user access but I didn't know what to do with it.

You will need to get superuser.apk from the market and make sure it is installed.

If it is installed then when you look in your app drawer where it shows all the apps installed, you will see a super user icon there.

When you open a folder in root explorer at the top is a line that says "mounts as RO or RW" Next to that is a button that says "mount as". Click that and it will remount ro to rw ot visa versa.

Can't get Google Play to properly download files

I had the same thing happen. The Read Right permissions will correct this. I rebooted after the change for good measure.

I had some other issues to throw out on the table as well. I rooted fine with SuperOneClick. I had the above issue and got it resolved after a while doing research. I set up the market like N4RPS detailed as best I recall.
                      My questions are:
                      1. My version of "Play Store" is not showing me the same searches and available apps as my Droid X phone, why, and is there and easy fix? I found this issue while searching for a specific app on my phone first. I would like to see a fix for this at some point in time. I have a few thoughts that I will wait on..

                      2. I use Windows 7 on my laptop and it installed generic drivers but I cannot explore the tablet from my laptop? (Just figured this one for myself--still had USB debugging turned on...good now I believe)

                      3. None of my previously installed app from my phone rolled over to tablet, is this correct? I have never had two android devices at one time much less logged into the same account.

Droid X Google Play build version: 3.5.15
                      Tablet build version:3.4.7

I bought the tablet last week after my first post. Did a few things with it but not much due to lack of time and energy. But I have followed all of the progress made over the last week by you folks in the forum. I applaud all of the effort and concern in everyone working to make this good tablet a really great tablet build. I wish I knew more about all of the programing as I am still very new to Android. I did manage to root my phone in January without making it a paperweight. Anyway maybe the issues I have stumbled into can be addressed in time and will save others from the same. Thanks again...

If this needs to moved to another thread, please move as needed.

might be off base but throwing it out anyway

have you guys having trouble installed and set up gmail on your device? it may not be needed, but it certainly cant hurt to try. if memory serves that links your device with your google stuff, makes paying for apps easier at least

I downloaded and used gapp-gmail-2-3-5-signed.zip. It seems to work fine. I installed last night but haven't use the tablet much today. I am not sure if this is the newest gmail or not, but it did sync and pull in my email. I have not fulled tested yet. Hope this helps

I moved the Vending.apk app to the system/app and I have the permissions screen open for the vending.apk file (using root explorer) there are Owner, Group, Others and Read, Write, Execute, so for all the boxes are check other than, Others - Write box. Should that be clicked?

GOT IT WORKING! BAM Thank you guys so much for everything.

It was the fact that the write access wasn't set to others.

So far so good. Thanks guys!
