MX9 Pro - Trouble of installing TWRP

Hello, I'm new to Android device.

I got a trouble of rooting my MX9 Pro TV Box. I want to install a VPN app, which needs a rooted device. I spent a whole day yesterady to search how to root rockchip's device, but found nothing.
I tried using Kingroot to root it, but failed. Finally, I found some threads which is discussing about TWRP and SuperSU or Magisk.

The main problem is that installing SuperSU through TWRP requires "unlock bootloader". When i used adb command to make my device into "bootloader mode", it became to black screen and nothing happened. Tried several times, but i got the same result.

I also tried making it into Recovery mode, but seems nothing to do in this mode. When i selected "reboot to bootloader", black screen again and nothing happened. I have to unplug the power cord and replug to make it ON again.

Does anyone know how to install TWRP.img for RK3328 device as MX9 Pro or How to root this device? Has visied TeamWin - TWRP site, but can't find the corresponding TWRP.img for my device.
Someone seems successful to install TWRP in A5X. I tried to follow the thread, but still failed. When using the Android tool, an error message "Match device type failed, stop running" shown after clicking run button. I'm not sure if i should make the device to be Maskrom mode? but i'm not to flash the firmware, i just want to install TWRP recovery.

I was very frustrated by this... Can anyone provide solutions to me.
    Thank you.

First of all you need to use a newer AndroidTool that actually supports RK3328.
Then you need to load the parameter file but not have it checked to tell the tool where the location of the recovery partition is.
Then flash twrp.img to the recovery partition.

I know how to do Root on the MX9 PRO RK3328. I did it in mine and it worked. The problem is that you can never update the binary of the supersu. For if not the system goes into infinite loop. But even without updating the binary, root works correctly here with me. Thank you! https://youtu.be/_pTkciIuL_A

I am just feel from my work now.

I think I'm using the most updated AndroidTool (v2.39) that supports RK3328 and installed Rockchip driver 4.5.
What is the parameter file? How can i load the parameter file through the AndroidTool?
Tried to install TWRP again today, but did nothing.

I connected the device to computer by using OTG cable, but i'm not able to detect my MX9 Pro.
When clicking "Switch" button, the device suddenly became black screen (still power ON with blue light), but I can make the AndroidTool recognized my MX9 Pro as i can get the Flashinfo of the device and status became "Found One LOADER Device"
Oh, i think i can install the TWRP. I selected the Path of recovery.img (TWRP 3.1.1-0 build by Magendanz) and pressed download, Unfortunately Download image failed.
If i did't checked it, the tool said "No item selected to download"

I also did "Upgrade Firmware", but i got fail with error "Loading firmware failed"

Does any one tell me What's wrong with my device or setting?

Use the last tab of AndroidTool, Unpack and load your update.img there.
Then in the Output folder you will get a parameter file.
Load that into the parameter row but keep the checkbox unchecked.
Then click Download with the Recovery changed to TWRP.

            Hi Mo123

Yeah, TWRP was successfully installed, i can boot to recovery mode by using android emulator terminal, but i can't install SuperSU through TWRP.
I'm not sure which step i missed out. I have downloaded supersu.zip (latest version v2.82) which was saved in local storage and put it into twrp. OK, Everthing seemed to be going well.
After reboot, checked with root checker, but it showed "Not rooted". I then installed supersu.apk got from Play store, but it failed.
Could you advise how can i solve this? Thank you~

When you talk about update.img, you talk about the recovery right ?

Here is the attachment the error it gives me..

Also I got the right partition for the recovery and when I try to flash it, it tells me the recovery does not exist !

Something even weirder, sometimes I flash it and it says no error but no changes on the system..

                Please help !

Use a different AndroidTool with a parameter entry then load the twrp recovery and check it, then run to flash.

A different Android Tool ? Which one do you talk about specifically ?

And what the process should look like ? Having trouble understanding all of this..

                    Thanks in advance !

                      hi okman246,

I have same issue on my HLQ box with RK3328: neither SuperSu nor Magisk ZIP can be installed through TWRP. Issue is the same: process fails during ramdisk extraction.

Did you solve your issue? Anyone could support us?

                      Thank you.
