Tanix TX3 Mini fails to boot after firmware update

I've got a Tanix TX3 Mini which I've applied a firmware update to (go it from Tanix download link - TX3Mini-ota-20171220-Tanix_Box_Com.zip

It rebooted said system update, went through a progress bar to the end, rebooted and now won't get past the TX Mini screen whenever I try to boot it.

I've tried to follow the firmware burning instructions with the USB cable and software but I think the USB cable I have is not working (bought from Officeworks).

I've managed to boot it into the restore screen using a pin in the tiny hole underneath and have a boot menu now but I'm not sure if I should be using this menu at all and if so which option to use?

If I choose Wipe data/factory reset will that resolve it or have I got a crappy firmware on there and need to reflash?

Having a nightmare so really appreciate any input!

    Followed the info here:
Welcome to our special section "How to burn that" :) Stop! Before hand, let me put you into perspective. You are in the right place, but helpless, hungry and you don't know a heck of how to burn a single TV Box. Isn't what happens to your right now right here right right right right?! So

Key pieces of information missing from the guide I needed:

    1. I had to make my own usb to usb cable, did this by cutting the end off 2 cables, stipping the wires a bit and twisting each matching colour together.
    This helped https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjqtAGdSsN8

    2. I had to run the burning software using Run as Administrator on my PC

    3. I had to press a pin into the tiny hole on the back at the same as I plugged in power and USB

    4. It was a total shit of a thing to do which I hope I never have to do again! It took about 12 attempts to get it working.
