    Tanix TX3 Dead on arrival

    I recently purchased the Tanix TX3 mini from Gearbest. When it arrived i pluged it i to my TV and tried to power it up. The box did nothing , no front display and TV said No Signal. There is a LED coming from the optical port. I went and bought a USB Male to Male lead as well as a 16gb microSD in an effort to recover the unit.
    I first tried pushing the reset button in and holdingit while powering up ghe box to no avail.
    I then downloaded the USB Burning Tool and got the firmware from the Tanix website. But Windows doesnt recognise the box being connected no matter what port i plug the cable into.
    The power on the remote doesn't chane the situation either.
    i was going to try and make a boot SD card but could not find a zip file with the uboot.ini file.
    I've contacted Gearbest, but so far it looks like my box has arrived bricked.
    Any help would be kindly appreciated .

    Hello,

    That's bad at all.
    What you can do is an reflash of the Device from PC.
    The need Firmware you get from the Tanix Website.

      Hi Neomode, thanks for the reply. I have tried connecting my box to the PC but it doesn't connect to the flash software. I have the firmware from Tanix, but unfortunately the flash software doesn't see my device.

        First check that the Driver is installed in Settings.
        Name for the Device is World Cup Drive.
        Then afaik there is an reset button you have to press then connect to USB. Make sure to use the right one.

          I have installed the drivers from the World Cup Drive folder, and it said they are ready to use. I pressed and held in the reset button under the unit and connected the USB, but it is not showing a connection to my device, it doesn't even show the hubs at all. I have tried both usb ports on the device, I fear that I have a faulty device. I haven't tried it with the power adaptor plugged in, as i have power coming from the computers usb. Maybe that is worth a try?

            Maybe yes but in first step the computer should regonize the box without extra power.
            let me ask what operating system did you use?

                Winner Winner Chicken Dinner.
                There we found the problem.
                Windows 10 only accept Certified Drivers.
                The World Cup Drive are not Certified Drivers.
                Disable that and install Driver again and is will work.

                  It might be a silly question , but how do i do that? Do i need to uninstall the World Cup Drivers?

                    I disabled the certified drivers with Shift-Restart and installed the drivers again, and it's still not seeing my unit. I tried connecting it with the reset held in, and without.

                      Hmm Bummer.
                      ​​​​​​Last think you could try is an nand reset.
                      Please do an search on Nand reset your Device.

                        I'm not very confident with taking the box apart. I have a support ticket open with Gearbest at the moment. This is how my unit arrived, so hopefully they will do a replacement on the device. The only reason i don't feel confident doing a nand reset is because I have multiple sclerosis and i am very shaky with my hands.

                            I tried connecting the power supply when trying to connect to the burning tool and still no win. Gearbest have offered to send a replacement unit to me. But i have already ordered the new MXQ Pro+ box.
