    Genuine Matricom G-Box MX2 Midnight v G-Box MX2 clone

Hi Guys, I am thinking of buying a Matricom G-Box MX2 Midnight and wondered if anyone here has first hand knowledge of a G-Box MX2 clone? From what I can gather the "innards" are much the same - same spec on both devices - the clone I am looking at is here.

The difference in price here in the UK is substantial.

I am leaning towards a clone (which I'll probably buy direct from China) flashed with the Matricom ROM that is featured here.

    Any thoughts, comments or suggestions?

    Thanks

    Hello,

Why not buying a Minix Neo X7 ? I would not buy a AM Logic Device because there are not much Custom Rom´s out there. The saying they will make Updates but can you be sure ?
    I would Take a RK31xx Device.

    Take a look here:

There is no difference between Matricom G-box MX2 and generic MX clone after installing this ROM.

Too bad they have downgraded this box to 1.2Ghz. It is capable of 1.51Ghz.

Hi guys, just to let you know that the mx clone will play 1080p etc perfectly.

It also has proper on/off fuction and works better than most RK device without a doubt because its amlogic and is much more stable.

you will not be disapointed it works great

PS: I only use ethernet and do not compare wifi etc, bust for etherenet and hassle free with nice family friendly menu this device beats RK devices all day long.

why get a neo x7 for double the price???

BUT bare in mind quad core amlogic will be available after xmas and will blow most devices out of the water.

But for the price of an amlogix mx clone there is not much better device for the price.

If xbmc is the only reason then rasberry Pi KILLS any RK3188 device in terms of playback!

Im using the Amlogic AML8726-MX with the Matricom 1.1.5 ROM and I'm satisfied, it is stable as hell, so far all apps work, no shut down or boot issues, no over heating issues, hardware XBMC works, MX player works well, Youtube works well, MELE F10-PRO air mouse works well, my 1.5TB external HDD works well....

What else can I want? Oh yes, a free touch screen remote, so I can use my Galaxy Tab 7.1 as a remote....

But other than that, I'm not even considering any RK devices anymore, as I've had 2 of them (MK808-II and MK802-II and now I'm finished with Rockchip RK for foreseeable future).

Cheers - that is just the sort of reply I was hoping for, as I am just about to buy 10 (g18ref) for resale.

                          Only issue, no Bluetooth.

It is not to considered a bug, since it does not mention anywhere it is supposed to be supporting Bluetooth.

                          I just wish it did.

According to Matricom, it is work in progress.

Is your device a "genuine Matricom" unit or a clone?

                              Clone.

I do not support "developers" like Matricom who do not respect GPL licence and who do not release source codes like GPL requires.

And without source codes, not possible to get different mods like Cyanogenmod, AOKP (or it is very difficult), kernel modding, CPU overclocking etc.

I suspect that with CyanogenMod the Bluetooth would work as well as all of the other parts.

I do not get what is it with the devs like Matricom, who make it so difficult? I mean, whats the point of not sharing sources? There is no financial gain.

Their rom is freely available anyway.
