    Minix x7 vs. MK908II

What would you guys recommend me the most, the mk908II or the neo x7,
these are the things I'm looking for in a device:

*a good system for gaming (good cpu/gpu/ram and good bluetooth to connect my moga pro)
*good video online and offline (good wifi and good and smooth video playback)
    *webcam compability (I have a c270 webcam)

considering everything that has happened lately (all the roms that have been released for both devices), wich one shold I buy?

    thanks in advance

I'd forget Rockchip devices & go for an AmLogic G-box clone. I have an X7 :-)

      Minix x7 vs. MK908II

Steering people away from Rockchip seems the new fad over the past week due to posts from Finless and a few others, but it's not realistic. The average person doesn't care about the supposed politics of the day where those more into the openness of the code seem to be hung up on it.

Now as for actually having an opinion to answer his questions other than simply throwing out a name as you have done and moving on, I suggest the Minix X7.

This link title should be 908 but he typed 809 by mistake. He was trying to decide between the 908 and t428, but I told him the same thing, the X7, like all android tv devices from china have their quirks. If you want fluid 1080p and XBMC, none of them are going to work. The 1080 is the fault if the kernel, but XBMC doesn't run stable on any android devices and that is not the device problem but rather XBMC for android itself.

As for actual features, gaming capability, controller and webcam ability, they are pretty much the same as any other quad core running android. It is not so much the device as it is the rom and what features are baked in. It comes down to form factor and the X7 beats the 908 hands down unless you want an octopus of wires and extra expenses such as a USB hub, USB Ethernet adapter, etc which the X7 resolves in a single unit.

I have an X7 & dont need any lectures, references to other posts or other opinions, as I have first hand knowledge. He asked, I responded - end of. Buying an X7 was a mistake for me - may not be for you or him. ;-)

hes putting a lot of emphasis on games and you're suggesting amlogic?
those things are slow as molasses for games.

I dont mind having an "octopus of cables" behind my TV and I already have a couple of usb port hubs, plus I dont need a usb to ethernet adapter, I think it would be better to have all my ports in one device but I've been notecing a lot of problems with the x7. I can't decide!!

I have a Raspberry Pi, iMito MX1, T428 and Minix Neo X7 along with an Apple TV for the hell of it, but your response to him was not referencing anything about your "experience", you just threw out a completely different device with no reason, no opinions on why it is better or any reference to your bad experience with the X7, thus completely unhelpful for his buying decision. If you have experience with a device, then let him know the reasons you don't like it, but don't get all bent out of shape when you are called to the carpet for an unhelpful post.

Well it's going to come down to form factor, gut feeling and your personal opinion on reviews you find on the forum I'm afraid, as they are both equivalent devices with lovers and haters alike.

I Have both the t428 and the X7 and I find them to be equally as incapable of delivering rock solid, stutter less video, but I can pretty much say the same for every other android tv stick.

They all play 720 video perfectly in my experience, but I don't think there has yet to be a stick that plays 1080 without problems.

I have no direct experience with the 908, so I can't say for sure.

What rom do you use with the neo x7?

I have tried stock 004 and 005 (didn't notice a difference) as well as Finless 1.5a and strauzo's Nexus SDK2 rom, and although I like the idea behind strauzo's approach of being a clean, virgin style rom without all the Chinese hacks that are baked into most stock roms for these devices, it's still a little too vanilla for my taste, not to mention the selling point for his rom is the multi-window feature, but let me tell you, it doesn't carry over well in a mouse style control environment, so its best left to touch tablets. So I personally love Finless 1.5a and use it exclusively now, unless something better comes along. Finless is the best balance for me, being based off of stock but with added features and less bloat.

Just so you know, Finless 1.5a is based on stock 004, but a lot of the changes in 005, such as a video fix are already implemented in Finless 1.5a, even so, Finless is going to release a new rom based directly off of 005 shortly.

I was thinking in Lewy's HFW. I really like the features on his roms but it might not bes as fast than te 1.5a or the nexus rom. I share your opinion about the nexus rom its a little bit to vanilla for me to. have you tried lewy's HFW?

I have not tried Lewy's yet as I actually only read about it last night, but there is a boat load of nice features in there. I have cwm recovery and Titanium backup so I am really considering giving his a whirl. All those features are great, but as you stated, performance may be an issue. It's a trade off I guess, but who knows, if it ends up running as decently as finless, I may keep it.
