    DDR3 Vs DDR4 noticeable difference?

    Hi all,

This maybe a question for experienced users that have a few different boxes...

I would like to know is there actually any noticeable difference between DDR3 and DDR4 boxes in practical user use? I know that DDR4 looks a lot better on paper but would a normal user notice the difference between the two?

Thanks in advance for your help
    D.

In the Real world of Android boxes Not a lot that you would you make you think WOW glad i have ddr4.
I believe it does run at a lower voltage, that can have its benefits, and some other wonderful thing (hype)
Do a Google for a more indepth answer.

I did Google it but a lot relates to Pc's and not much on android tv boxes...though I know it's the same thing but I'm just wondering what are the advantages of paying the extra money for it? Is it more zippier when using the box?

Also I would be flashing Roms so is there much development for Roms using DDR4 boxes?

        Thanks again.

            Thanks trebor

So as I like flashing different Roms would I be better off buying a DDR3 that has a lot Rom support compared to DDR4 for speed?

In fact the ones I have in mind are:

            1 Alfawise H96 pro
            2 Mecool M8s pro
            3 A Beelink

Which of the above would you recommend? Or would you recommend something different?

I just want a good box for IPTV , Netflix and Kodi also one that has good development support on here with different Roms.

            Thanks again.

Ha! I just love tech... seems like new and improved is mostly hype, and it's been done since the late 80s.

example... 386 486, not much faster, and 16bit/32bit OS killed any improvements until the 90s when pentiums were starting out. Though Pentiums were nut much faster, until NT 4.0 was released. Still the smoothest graphical interfaced OS ever made, but MS had to make it into a mess for the masses.

Even funnier is ATA66 was faster then SATA, but hard disk manufacturers had to make it look faster by adding 2x as much cache on SATA hard drives.

Well Good box is always a journey more than the destination.
All boxes mentioned have there good and evil,
A good custom Rom you will find that saves you from mass frustration.

Keep on reading in the threads, whatever you get, you often wish you got something else.
They are pretty cheap, go on special a lots of the time

I suggest a good L1 box to do the Paid services Netflix etc etc....then the others that you tinker with to bring up to speed
Mecool are doing Ok with L1 if Netflix is your thing, then so is a Nvidia Shield is better.

Any thing else will be good to tinker with

Yep, I understand that. Sort of figured it out before I made my choice. Your firmware and a few others here got me into thinking why not give it a try, and buy a cost effective box. After all I wanted to ween myself from using my tablet as a media server. As it was used more than i like for tv. Though my tablet has L1 DRM, it has no DTS support and is limited by its 720p screen.

For me for the trouble with L1 issues, rather get a Fire TV or Shield TV. I don't use L1 since I have no need for it. Many streaming apps are now streaming video a lot better than a year ago. Unless you have free wifi the cost of Prime or Netflix may justify, especially when Netflix is filled with sub par Netflix movies and shows. God forbid I turn on Crackle, or Syfy. If I ever make a choice on DRM, Amazon will be my choice, even though it has less content, Movies Anywhere and Vudu make up for what I miss out with Prime Video.
