Does Anyone Know How to Use the USB Burning Tool?

I have 2 h96 pro plus boxes that I cannot flash with the amlogic usb burning tool; one fairly dead (blue lights only but does connect to the burning tool) and the other box works but I cannot update it. I get to 1% and see usb transfer error, control error, etc. I never get past 1%

I have searched and read and tested for many, many hours. There are posts about the tool in this forum, youtube, and various other sites. I am concerned there may be nobody who really knows how to make the usb burning tool work. Some have success but they cannot explain why.

    When someone runs into trouble and asks for help, the responses are all over the place;
    - The order of operations differs from one set of instructions to the next.
    - The version of the tool is the problem.
    - it's the mac_ether.ini
    - it's the worldcup_device driver
    - it's the rom version that is the trouble
    - if you use the burning tool too many times, you need to switch to another version
    - you need a 2a power supply
    - you can use just a usb cable for power
    - you have to keep pressing the reset button over and over as much as 10, 20, 30 times until it works
    - and many more...

I've tried them all and all have failed.

Does anyone have a solid way to make the usb burning tool work? Or the Burn Card Maker? I don't care which, I just want the one that works. I suspect a near-bricked box needs the burning tool.

    Thanks in advance.

I'm looking for the same info. I have an M96X Plus here I'm trying to fix and have had little luck getting help. Also having the same issue you are, when I plug the USB in the blue light comes on, but the box is not detected. Been trying the pin short thing but don't seem to be getting anywhere with that either... Not sure which pins to short and can't find info about this on the NAND chip my box uses. Would really appreciate any help at all...

    Cybergy:
You have the wrong firmware version for your box.

    Shipwreck:
Uninstall the USB Burning Tool, then plug in the android box /power adapter and hdmi/ and then install.
The USB Burning Tool installs the driver for your box.

      Thank you Gante

Ok, that's possible. I am trying to load firmware that worked when I first flashed the box a few months ago. I assumed that would work again, but maybe not when it's semi-bricked.

      I have an h96 Pro Plus 3/32 s32 v6 LPddr3 2017-09-05.

      On the WeChip site I can get stock firmware and several appear to fit;
      - wechip V6 (EDIT: this filename says mini - so I will pass)
      - H96 PRO+ Android 7.1 (aml_7.1_s912_q9377-H96PROPLUS_mac-20170422.img)
      - H96 PRO3/32G (aml_s912_q9377-H96PROPLUS(3+32_kodi16.1)_v0_mac-20161227.img)

I will try these roms and report back.

UPDATE: the 2nd and 3rd rom give me "Get Key Failed" at 1%. I don't think this is the trouble.

If you have a LP version - a blue motherboard, you need to install LP firmware.

Ok, that's new. I was advised earlier (another thread) that I need to look for v6.

I am running H96 Pro+ 7.1.2 NHG47L SCV4 20170826 test-keys on the good box. I do not see a reference to LP in the image, but I'll give an LP rom a try on the bricked box.

            Get key failed

Now I feel like I'm back to the mac_ether.ini issue - if that's even an issue....

I'm using usb burning tool 2.0.9 or 2.0.7.2 if you trust the "about" info

              H96 Pro+ 7.1.2 NHG47L SCV4 20170826 Is not LP.
Why you give getting the wrong firmware? Still and still?
              For Example
7.1.2_s912_q9377-S912_LP_mac and other are correct! It Is LP!

                  Not sure what you mean.

I followed the links you provided. 1st link was a long list, none of which appeared to be for an h96ProPlus LP.
From your 2nd link I tried aml_7.1.2_s912_q9377-H96PROPLUS_LP_mac-20171129.img (Get key failed when I tried to flash that one.)

Using the new license folder I get usb transfer error

On all these roms I'm getting either usb transfer error, control setup error or get key failed.

I did make it to 2% which is sort of exciting.

Do you have in the title firmware letters LP?
                      You do not!
Then it is not the right firmware for your box.

And what is the error in the log?

And you really have a LP version?
Open the box and look at the motherboard color.
                        If it's blue, it's a LP version.

                          I feel your frustration.

But what I said is that I have 2 boxes, one is bricked, and one is working. The one that works is running "H96 Pro+ 7.1.2 NHG47L SCV4 20170826 test-keys". True, it is not LP, but it works. I have no interest in changing the rom on that one until I can determine how to properly flash a rom - which I feel no closer to at this point.

The one that doesn't work is what I am following your guidance on.

                          My board is blue.

I once met that no firmware could be installed on the blue motherboard.
The problem is that there are lots of versions of H96Pro Plus and a lot of innovations from the different manufacturers. Like different chip.
Finally we installed the Sunwell firmware on this box from this post he works well.

I have no other advice, sorry.
