Installing Xposed framework on x96 mini (Android 7.1.2) ?

Hello,
Has anyone had any luck installing Xposed framework on the x96 mini (Android 7.1.2) tv box? I just got mine today and dont know how to do it without TWRP.

Also would it be possible to install Magisk on this box and install Xposed via that?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
