    MK808B with R-Box boot logo on 4.2.2

    Hi all,

I apologize if this has been asked already. I searched a lot but could not find something useful.

I purchased recently a MK808B device from Amazon.
This booted up with Android 4.2.2 and a R-Box logo.

Then I thought I should give Finless Rom a try, and I tried 2.1 but had no WIFI anymore afterwards. Weird.
I then installed many other roms, all Finless 1.7 variants, none of them worked it seems.

Finally I now installed MK808B_MinixHFW_2.2.4_720p, and somehow my device is back to life now. However with Android 4.1.1 and the WIFI speed is not brilliant.
By the way: dmesg reports a rk903 chip being initialized, so I really do not understand with Finless 2.1 does not work

In short, I would like to go back to the firmware I had before, but I cannot find any 4.2.2 MK808B Firmware anywhere which starts with the "R-Box" boot logo.

Does anyone know what R-Box means in terms of which company is behind? And where to get their firmwares from?

Still would love to get Finless working, but I do not know why it does not want to work given the fact I got a rk903 reported which makes me believe it should be an Original mk808b.

Thanks for any help and views...

    Andi

It's a known issue with that ROM, lewy says it will be fixed in the next revision of his firmware:

I'm using now your Rom 2.2.4 on my MK808.

It is much more fluid than the original!

But I detected that the wifi is not stable, when i turn on the wi-fi it works a 54 mbps after a while are working to 2 mbps, very very slow. To return to normal, I have to turn off wifi and turn on it back again.

    You can fix this situation?

Right now I'm using digitop's firmware instead. Works great for me.

If you were using a clone, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't get wifi functionality whatsoever:

There is also a known bug when flashing finless' 720p rom where the device defaults to output in 1080p until you go into the settings and switch it to 720p. If you don't hook it up to a 1080p and make that switch, you won't be able to see a picture on a TV that supports anything lower than 1080p.

                Hi,

                thanks for the answer.

Although I am not a noob at all (even doing Kernel development on the Samsung Android platform), I am a bit a coward as I am not too used to the mk80x platform.

So my question is: Can I really flash a mk802 firmware to a mk808b device? Is it safe in terms of bootloaders etc?
Would be too bad to completely brick my device, not being able to put it into flash mode anymore.

Thanks for confirmation, then I will give it a go
