    Please help!!!

    Hi,
I flashed the Finless 1.6 ROM to fix frame skipping of the stock firmware on the Neo X7. It works perfectly except the video playback randomly hangs up every 10-20 minutes. I tried VLC, Dice and MX - the same with all of them.
Do you have any idea what can be the reason for this and if there is a fix? I would be unhappy to go back the stock ROM as the frame skipping as also very annoying.
    Thanks a lot.

I'm not going to say that I tried all of them as I have not. The only kernal that would not work for me was the fastest one. I went to the middle one and have had that on the X7 since last weekend. It has been used for between 1 and 2 hour sessions during the week.

Knock on wood it is not randomly hung till present. May I suggest giving that one a go and see if that fixes it for you. I did flash the one that you currently have but did not keep it hanging on very long, so can't give you a very good opinion on how stable it is. The second fastest over clocked kernal has been very good so far.

          I hope that helps.

              ext4 USB flashstick mount problem

I've just flashed Finless ROM 1.6 with phja_1080_vsfsam_cpu1704h_gpu600_ddr720 kernel. When I insert ext4 formatted usb flashstick it doesn't neither appear in Settings -> Storage nor in the file manager. But in the right bottom corner there is notification "USBMassStorage is safe to remove". Is there any way to use ext4 usb flashsticks or drives?

Would be great to have a new oc kernel based on the new 007 kernel with nfs and openvpn support.
Thanx so lot for all your efforts.

I've not figured out a way to do that. If you discover a way of doing this please post it as I'm sure others would be interested in this also.

I have tried before to support EXT4 for USB or other removable media. It is not as simple as editing vold.fstab. I think it requires kernel changes. Something to look into when I get time.

Are you having a look at MINIX new official FW bob? They have a auto detect 1080p video output it seems. I suspect there still won't be smooth 1080p playback though.

mounting ext4 USB flashstick from command line

For the time being I could mount ext4 USB flashstick from command line only (commands have to be executed from any terminal application e.g. Android Terminal Emulator):
                        Code:
                        [user]$ su
                        [root]$ mount -t ext4 /dev/block/sda1 /mnt/usb_storage/
                        To check one can execute
                        Code:
                        [root]$ mount |grep -i usb_storage
                        /dev/block/sda1 /mnt/usb_storage ext4 rw,realtime,barrier=1,data=ordered 0 0
Although /mnt/usb_storage became "browsable" in ES File Manager and a regular user can copy and read files on the mounted USB flashstick it didn't appear in Settings -> Storage.
It also would be convenient to have such devices be mounted automatically.

I also vote for nfs support.
And thanks a lot for Finless ROM!

I would prefer extfat. I use it on my Galaxy S4. Windows and Mac can use it oob. So its easy to copy a 14gb mkv to X7.

                                Video hang up solved (?)

Hi, I reported earlier that on my Minix Neo X7 video players randomly hung up with every FW. I found out why: it seems to be an issue with Android handling the external mouse (radio mouse). It appears as if the mouse gave a right button signal every 10-20 minutes which triggers "back button" response and the player hangs up.

As Android does not let you remap mouse buttons I solved this by using Dice player and freeze (lock icon on the top of the screen) the player after the video starts - works perfectly. Not ideal but works.
