    Tesco Hudl - Quadcore 1.5ghz 1440x900 tablet £119

Wow! I'm surprised at this. Obviously very much depends on WHAT quadcore cpu but sounds good. Seven inch HD that can do 720p video, books, Skype, browse and play games for £119 sounds superb value

Apparently you can get for 'free' with £60 of tesco club card vouchers, which is even better! I'll be getting a couple.

I'm betting that 900supersport will be inundated with requests for a ROM for this one.

As posted elsewhere on here the spec is:

        Rockchip RK3188 @ 1.6GHz with Mali-400MP GPU
        1Gb RAM
        16Gb NAND Flash RAM
        BCM4334 Dual band 150MHz Wifi & BT4.0+ HS

AnTuTu score 18775 which is not bad at all for this resolution!

                Thanks

I've downloaded and took a quick look, it's a little unusual but I can probably make a few changes.

I don't have one of these so I'd need to work with someone willing to test it. Obviously testing such changes is not without risk though it's difficult to brick an rk3188 tab.

Hi, I would be willing to be a Beta tester for you. I've made a basic version of the stock rom by unpacking and running it through the Kitchen, got SuperSU and swapped a SystemUI without the Tesco "T". changed to ro.secure=0 in boot.img

PM and let me know what else we can do

Sounds like you have made a good start:-) I've not seen a hudle in the flesh myself, just taken a quick look at the firmware. I did notice the parameter file looked a little unusual, would like to see a screen shot of system, storage to see how much space is available on internal storage and band flash etc.

What do you think the hudl needs in terms of changes to the ROM?

Have you tried changing recovery to a clockwork recovery?

Hi, I first post may have made me sound like a real DEV...I must admit this is my first go at cooking a ROM.

I've got a few years of being a flash-o-holic on my HTC phones Desire HD, Sensation Xe and One X.

I can unpack full images easy enough and I'm waiting for the online CWM recovery builder to make a recovery.img for me.

I have many years expericnce with computers, my first was a 48k ZX Spectrum, I've still got it...

I can use Linux and have just built a Ubuntu 13.04 but its 32bit and most of the stuff I've found seems now to be 64bit so I may swap to 64bit.

CWM will make DEV work much more easy so I am concentrating on that, I work night so my work rate is slow. Wife Kids Jobs price of electricity etc etc.

Ok got a screen shot of storage, but not sure what you mean but system and parameter file ??

Sorry still a n00b at this.

                      Mick

Try the generic, if that works we can progress from there.

Well,it's working sort of OK. I had to extract the Generic to get to "img-ramdisk" folder, then patch that in the existing boot.img

When I changed to zip name to update.zip and put it on the external sdcard and booted up fully, Android found the update and rebooted but said something about it not being compatiable. When I tried using the stock recovery it just aborted.

I can now get into CWM recovery, but it can't mount sdcard.

I have mounted external sdcard and made a Nandroid backup :-)

Looking good so far but what do you think ? What else should I test ?

                              Mick

                              Edit.. added backup log recovery.zip
