Well, that inability to hide the navigation bar I listed in the notes of the original post. Honestly, I'm surprised that VideoStrong didn't include a setting (or the ability to drag from the edge to show and then collapse with a button like Beelink did).
One thing to try: There's a setting in framework-res.apk called config_showNavigationBar in /res/values/bools.xml that's currently set to true. You could set that to false, but that would disable the nav bar permanently. Setting /res/values/dimens.xml/navigation_bar_height to "0.0dpi" would probably also do that.

Hi @Magendanz,
I sent something by PayPal because you're responsible for making my 2 Mecool KM9's useful again. Thanks.
I bought 2 as christmas gifts but I found they were pretty useless when I went to set them up for my kids.
I flashed them with your Nano Variant: BURN PACKAGE and they work great now.
I replaced the control with an air mouse.
There is one thing that I can't fix in settings - the android nav controls at the bottom of the screen (triangle-circle-square) stay with every app.
The notification bar at the top slides away but the footer nav doesn't.
In older android tablets these was a setting to toggle full-screen but that's missing from the settings on this ROM.
I downloaded an app to force full-screen but the footer nav would disappear and reappear immediately.
Is there a setting I'm missing to auto hide this nav-bar?
Cheers

That's not something that I can do, only the OEM that installs the keys to secure storage in the factory. It's actually independent of the firmware release.

The problem is that you're not using the Android TV version of Netflix, but the one designed for tablets and phones with touchscreens. Unlike the ATV version, this Netflix app cannot be driven entirely from the remote. It assumes a touchscreen (or mouse). About the only thing you can do is enter mouse mode, where the dpad on your remote controls the pointer position, but that's pretty damn slow and awkward. You might also try an air mouse.

So mr Magendanz there is no hope to get the device verification some time on this box? Thanks for the interest.

The Nvidia Shield TV firmware releases are posted online, so that's not the issue. See above.

I use the both Nvidia Shield TV and Nexus Player firmware releases as a model for what's needed, but the kernel and drivers are worthless because they're made for different processor architectures. Actually, the Xiaomi Mi Box is more interesting for porting, since it's made on an Amlogic reference board...but for an outdated processor and it's locked down pretty tight.
None of these Google Certified boxes are going to help us run Netflix or Google Cast on the KM9, since you need device certification. That's only made possible with keys installed at the factory that are unique to the device. They're not even included in the OEM firmware.

Yes Magendanz,Trickle is wright.
When will you have the rom from nvidia shield.
Can you make the remote control to work with netflix?

Chromecast can't be fixed without Google certification and factory keys installed. I'll look at the voice remote issue, but that was working for me earlier.
