I suppose it's possible that the OEM changed the partition mapping on your device. Were you running on Pie? The fstab on my KM9 TWRP was built for Oreo, and it may not work for Android 9.0.

ok, I'll do the burn package. Strange happening is, I have a ms8 pro w and i follow the same steps and resolted.

You wiped your system partition, which makes it impossible to do run the environment checks in the update script. Don't do that!

At this point, I'd switch to the burn package (.img file) and USB Burning Tool.

I just bought one of the Sidiwen KM9 with Android 9.0 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PXJD3T6..._-j4PCbQX8C8FX) and it's BUGGY as hell.

Here's some of the fun things you can expect it to do:

1. Randomly closes out of Kodi and returns to main screen.
2. The "Update" app returns an error"Check Failed!Check Your OTA Server Agent".
3. Sleep function does not work, when going to sleep the sleep light triggers, but shortly afterwards the light turns back to blue and the system becomes unresponsive. Requires a power cable pull.
4. Because it's Android 9.0 there are NOT very many apps compatible with it.
5. On the main screen one of the unremovable icons "TV Center" doesn't work.

I'll update as more are found but this thing has been a MASSIVE letdown and I JUST got it yesterday.

Yep it is a POS. I've got one setting here with the RMA label on it going back to Amazon. There's no excuse for this nonsense, there's plenty of good s905X2 boxes out there, Leave it to Mecool to take a already proven new platform and screw it up. They never ever give a damn 'bout their Customers. I consider this purchase to be solely my fault as I already knew they where Jackass's.

you said you have the KM9 that came with Android 9, and i said I flashed the KM9 that came with Android 9 and i Flashed the custom ATV 8.1 from this page and it works sorry if i didnt make that clear

Although the WIFI worked the first time it stopped working but that is probably do with hardware fault

So yes KM9 that comes with Android 9 will work with the custom ATV on this thread

flashed 4 different ROMS now and WIFI doesnt pick up anything and it turns itself off think the WIFI must be faulty on this box

I have wifi issues with my KM9. My router only supports 2.4GHz.

Hi, just got the KM9 with Andriod 9 which is none ATV also 5GHZ didnt get picked up probably doesnt like the channel i have my router set 5GHZ too , So i flashed the ATV ROM from here although the 2.4ghz got picked up and connected then it just disconnected itself and now it doesnt pick any 2.4ghz even after restarting

might just go back to the stock km9 rom

Just tested this new Magendanz's mod on my Mecool KM9 and here is what I have found. First, it is dated, Feb, 20, KM9-PI-V1.20190220.151755. It does use the touch screen version of Android.

Kodi version, 18.1 runs very well, including high bitrate 4k rips.

This firmware, just like the original ATV version, supports Dolby Digital, AND DTS, but NOT the HD audio codecs.

Ethernet and WiFi both work very well. I am testing my high bitrate 4k rip using the 5 Gz band, and there is NO buffering.

As with all of the Amlogic boxes, movies encode with VC-1 codec, struggle with the video stuttering.

Emby and Plex clients refuse to use the ATV version and will only install the touch screen version. The playback of media using these two players, is sub par and not usable.

Netflix as expected plays in DVD quality with stereo only.

YouTube plays 4k videos flawlessly. This is using the 5Gz WiFi connection, and not Ethernet.

At this time, I don't see any difference between Android 8.1 or this Android 9. But perhaps I am missing something.

But as usual, I love Magendanz's mods............ I run his mods on most of my boxes............

Waiting for his ATV version that he will be doing next month.

Edit: For the touch screen version of Android, I use this air mouse remote and it works great. It is an actual air mouse with an RF dongle, for less than $11 USD.

In theory, yes, but it's always a challenge to build the first custom ROM on a new SDK...particularly when the SDK isn't yet final. They tend to make subtle changes to build tools without telling us, and we don't have access to SDK downloads directly from Amlogic. There's an inherent lag between when the OEMs start work and when we can.
