      Thanks, Trebor.

Downloading now, will install and report.

Edit: Easy to install, just used the USB Burning tool version 2.1.6, inserted a tooth pick into the AV hole and connected a male to male USB 2 cable from computer to USB 2 port on the box. Deselected the "Erase bootloader" option and clicked the start button.

Connected to my 4k TV and it booted without any issues. It is a touch screen version of the Android OS, not the Android TV OS. Not much change from the TV OS version, but it did fix the issue of Live TV streams not playing in Emby or Plex. Still NO HD audio support, but it does play in DD or DTS audio codecs.

After about an hour I am going back to the Android TV OS, still has a lot of improvements to be usable for my system. It MAY be OK for a TV that has NO Surround system, and just a basic usage, but it is not good for a media center with a surround system.

This is the touch screen version of the Android, not the Android TV verson, so NO Google assistant for the Voice remote. The remote does work for basic functions, but you WILL need a mouse or air mouse.

I saw this on blog.geekbuying which posted by trebor

Note: This firmware is not suitable for MECOOL KM9?TV Box with?voice remote.

That's why I asked is someone tried rom on box with voice remote.

Is this new firmware better than the 20181122?

That is a big question, depends on how you use it. For my purposes, NO. It is real easy and safe to try, so best thing is to test for yourself. There is the 20181122 version on here somewhere, I have already used it and I have it saved on my computer. Just make sure you de-select "Erase bootloader", and use USB Burning tool v.2.1.6.

Magendanz has provided a TWRP for this device, but I have not used it.

Edit: It does NOT lose the Widevine level 1 DRM keys, so that is not problem there.

First very important question: can we use 3rd party voice remote (ie. mx3) with KM9 box without voice remote ( is Google assistant supported on a box without original Mecool voice remote ) ?
Second question: can we change stock firmware between normal/voice remote ?
