    Custom Rom/Firmware for Akaso/Mecool HM8?

Hello, I have an Akaso HM8 Box, it seems to be identical to Mecool HM8 and other boxes with KM8 in the title.
    Here are the specs:

    Brand: Akaso
    Model: HM8
    Type: TV Box
    System: Android 6.0
    CPU: Amlogic S905X
    Core: 2.0GHz,Quad Core
    GPU: Mali-450
    RAM: 1G RAM
    RAM Type: DDR3
    ROM: 8G ROM

Currently I run CoreElec on it with DTB gxl_p212_1g.

The stock android was bad so I want to ask if there is a Custom Firmware/Rom that runs well on my box.
I just want to try android and my box.
I guess I will be limited to a tablet version of android, since android TV software has to be licensed, is that right?

    I found this rom: https://forum.freaktab.com/forum/tv-...ing-needed-wip

Will it work on my box too?

With only 1GB of Ram don't think it will run Android 8 good in any way.

      :O such fast reply.

Doesn't need to be android 8, basically I just want to try any Android rom that's considered running best on this box.

Nice, thx. I have 0 experience with android on such boxes, I just was warned before that on those "cheapo" chinese boxes android will be horrible and have freezes etc. And this was the case. Also internal storage is considered unreliable so I'd like to run it from micro Sd Card.

Right now I have CoreElec running on it from Sd Card which works really well. But I consider buying a more powerful android box also for heavier games emulation and faster ui. Maybe I'll put more money on the table and buy an nvidia shield tv.

The cheapo chinese box will be running armbian in the future and be connected to my 3d printer. It will be running octopi/print and klipper.
