I'd also love to hear about this tablet's GPS performance before purchasing it. I intend to use Sygic on it though not Google Maps. Trying to decide between the M6 Pro and the Ronda i10. Any feedback from existing owners would be appreciated.

Best I can remember, from earlier posts is that the GPS wasn't doing will indoors, or inside a vehicle. I think it is an antenna issue.

Not what I was hoping to hear Can you recommend another 9.7inch (4:3) quad-core tablet with GPS?

I'm not saying it isn't fixed...I just haven't heard any reports. If someone with one of these tablets could shed some light on GPS performance it would be very helpful.

Good to hear viprgrm is checking the gps performance and i look forward to their report on it, or yes an alternative tablet suggestion.
I borrowed my sisters ipad 4 and tried that in my car and to my surprise it kinda worked wasn't great but it did tell me where i was going but did lose signal at times, i really don't want an i pad but will i be forced into a corner? Here's hoping that pipo have done something about it on the m6 pro 3g it would be nice if they gave you the option of adding an external antenna via a connection of some sort...

                    Hey guys,

Sorry for the late reply. I wanted to test last night but didn't get the opportunity. Anyway, I downloaded Sygic GPS navigation software 7 day trial to see how well it would work on my tablet. I tried to use it this morning on my way to work. It was a little rushed but at this stage Randy seems to be correct. It was only a 15 minute journey or so but I was unable to lock on to a reliable position to even start navigating. I tried with the tablet in my lap and also in the passenger seat. Unfortunately this did not work well.

I will test this again on my way home from work this evening. It could be because it was looking for first lock on whilst the vehicle was moving. This is far from ideal when trying to get a fix but I didn't want to be later for work! This time I'll wait until I get a lock on and let you know how it goes. Give me about 5 hours

No problem. I should point out that I had to factory reset due to ongoing issues with Netflix not working so I'll have to download Sygic again. I won't be able to do this until I get home so I'll be using Google Maps instead.

Although I specifically want to use Sygic on the tablet, Google Maps should be enough to test the GPS capabilities. Looking forward to hearing about your experience. Thanks a million.

The first test I carried out was testing GPS using preinstalled 'GPS Test' app which is free to download from the Play store. It took approximately 1 min 35 seconds to get a proper fix.

It took almost another minute to get enough satellites to enable proper navigation. This was with the tablet sitting on my knee in the driver seat of my car. I'm pretty sure you'd get a quicker fix if you have an active 3G sim card installed. I did not. I was pretty underwhelmed with the reception and accuracy as you can see below.

I then moved the tablet and set it on top of my dashboard. There was an immediate and fairly significant improvement...

Despite this obvious improvement in accuracy, the performance of the GPS on my phone was much better from an identical position. The phone here out of interest is a Xiaomi Mi2-A

In the second test I attempted to use Google Maps to test navigation but I was unable to get a fix, even after several minutes waiting. This could be for a number of reasons but most likely firmware related. All settings were correct as far as I could tell. This test failed.

The final test was with using Sygic GPS navigation. It took roughly a minute to obtain navigation-acceptable fix. At first I selected a random address to drive to and set the tablet on my knee. This wasn't very successful. There was a distinct lag with voice turn commands and I'd often be thrown off course on to a side road and back again. It was pretty much the same from the passenger seat.

I then set the tablet back on the dash and once again there was a significant improvement. It was most definitely usable. Turn commands were accurate and in good time. I had no issues with being bounced around different roads. The satellite reception wasn't particularly strong but it was definitely usable.

In conclusion, I would say that GPS reception is fairly average at best if I'm being honest. I should point out that I had a leather cover on the tablet which may have affected reception slightly. If you are going to use it as a navigation tool then mounting it on top of the dash with a good sky view is essential. If you live in a city centre or near mountains then you may struggle in certain areas to get a proper fix. We are also still in the early stages of firmware for this tablet so there's always a possibility that this will improve with later releases. This doesn't really affect me personally as I won't be using it as a navigation tool but it may help others.
