    K-R42 AV Connection

One of the reason I have bought K-R42 is because it has AV connection, so I can use it in my children room which has old TV, however, I have problem with the picture like every 5 or 10min it gets distorted, lines, black and white, and the only why to restore the picture is to reboot it.

I wonder if the reason is the cable, the software (I am currently using the latest software v2.0.4 from lewy20041), or the hardware.

So, if anybody experienced the same problem and found a solution, please advise.

    Thanks,

    Hello.

Try flashing the K-R42 original rooted version, to check if it is a problem with 2.0.4 HFW rom.

In my case I had a similiar issue, but it was related with the 720p vs 1080p resolution.
The 2.0.4 HFW somehow keep changing to 1080p, even though it was configured to 720p. My TV wasn´t able to handle that resolution.

When I flashed the rooted version of the original K-R42 ROM the problem was solved.

Thanks inoxllor for your answer but why you provided 2 links? should I load the original stock Rom first then the Rooted one? besides, does it have the shut down option which I like a lot since the first Rom I tried from lewy20041 was a stable 720 but it didn't have the shut down option, therefore, I tried to latest Rom.

BTW, since you mentioned the resolution might be the problem, I went to the setting and changed the resolution to the lowest hopping that would solve the problem, however, I will be waiting for your answers before I take a step further.

      Thanks again,

The diference between a Rooted ROM and a non-rooted ROM, is like making a jailbreak on iphone.
A Rooted ROM is better if you want to install programs and make changes that require superuser rights.

So you can download the following types of Roms:
Stock ROM (unrooted) = original ROM that came with your device
Stock ROM (rooted) = orginal ROM, but with superuser rights enabled
Custom ROM (rooted) = customized version with more apps and settings

The HKW Firmware is a custom ROM. Giving you a lot of options, but it is in a beta version, so it may not be stable for all devices (yet).

I suggest you install the ROOTED K-R42 STOCK ROM. You'll get the original rom plus the "button for shutdown", you can install other programs and even change themes or icons. Customization Rulez.

The other link is for the UNROOTED ROM, just in case you want to revert things to the original state. For a more conservative state of mind.

        Best regards

So, I assume the suggested ROOTED K-R42 STOCK ROM would solve the AV connection problem, correct?

Yes I believe so, since my stock rooted rom has no issue with AV.

Thank you buhohitre and inoxllor, I will try it soon.

Just to confirm that I was testing it for the last few days, and I didn't have the problem anymore.
