Restored!

I succeeded to restore it, it's exactly the ROM I had. I extracted the .img files with the utility specified there and then I copied all over a Finless package, and used the flash tool from it.
Something strange happened yesterday during my flashing attempts, the device refused to enter flash mode after a while, so today only after several tries I was able to wake the flash mode.
Now coming back to the original problem why I started looking for a custom ROM: how to include the tun.ko module in the kernel?

Still not working...
Originally posted by phinc View PostMany users are searching for a fully working rom for this device, but none has been found so far. It was reported that "rk3066_T005_Launcher2_public_20130121" firmware is the only one that boots, but wifi and bt does not work. You can get this firmware here:

I just tried this ROM but no success, flashing with Rockchip_Batch_Tool_v1.6, using restore option works but when trying to boot I get no signal on HDMI, so nothing happens.
I'm thinking of sending it back while I still can, but somehow I got really curious why no ROM worked so far.
I tried some Finless ROMs also with the included ROM flash tool, but nothing. So I'm very intrigued...
The main reason why I wanted a custom ROM is that the OpenVPN was not working on the stock ROM, which I told the seller but got no response so far. So I tried to install CWM recovery and after that device did not boot anymore.
I'll try some more digging...

Reach out to the reseller and ask for a copy or a link to a copy of the ROM with instructions for flashing it. If they are unhelpful, threaten to report them and/or ask for a complete refund including shipping since you didn't get what you were advertised. Most places like Amazon and **** have ways to help and can often get you a refund IF it's been soon enough since you purchased it.
Remember that when you mention you were advertised a MK808B... that has a MK3066 CPU with a RK903 WiFi/BT chipset... yours has the AP6210 WiFi/BT chipset so it is not what you were told it was.
Hopefully you won't need to resort to the threats... but it's nice to have leverage in these situations.

There are a bunch of other ROMs linked for an AP6210 device in this thread: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...-is-2-PENGUINS
I noticed someone on 4PDA is having trouble finding a working ROM for this clone too...

Look at the last posts in the thread about clones/fakes... I don't feel like reposting it here as well

look for roms with this model of wifi chipset. i was able to find one rom that is pre-rooted for some reason its build.prop say its mk808IIIS but it works just fine.
wasn't able to find any other interesting roms.

Bachhaupten:
My seller for a MK808B stick with AP6210 chip gave me a link to the official firmware:
I tried Finless 2.1 and this cwm zip (CWM_ROM_21K.zip) somewhere here in the forum and now wifi is working but bluetooth does not. I did no try this official firmware again.
Hopefully this can help you.
Update: This is not the original image. Neither WLAN nor Bluetooth works. Sorry, I`m still trying to get the original one...
New Update: My seller gave me a new link.
The AP6210 chipset will substitute the RK903 in future because of better wifi stability, he told me. Maybe one day we get a custom FW for this new clone...
This FW works for Wifi and Bluetooth and has the same kernel but a new build number,
it ends with ".170924 test keys":

The problem is, there are many different hardware versions of the mk808b.
You can try all mk808b ROM versions with the risk, you will not come back to the original firmware and loose wifi and / or bluetooth.
It is better to find out which version of hardware you have. Maybe take pictures of your hardware and release them here.
Read the thread before and you will possible find your device.
