I stumbled across a review of the Samsung Optical Smart Hub SE-208BW working with android so I ordered one from Amazon UK for $46 US (Amazon US didn't have any in stock). I received it in only 10 days, fastest overseas shipment I've ever received. The power adapter only came with 2 euro plugs, so I soldered and heat shrunk a short US cord to one of the euro plugs. After I updated the firmware and installed the Samsung Mobile Smart Hub App on my tablet I can now watch all my DVD's, backups and originals with no cords attached. The instructions that came with the Smart Hub are pretty useless except that it tells you where the user name and password are located to get into the Smart Hub's router settings.
I would like to know if this is the Samsung model that you ordered from Amazon UK:

[ DESCRIPTION ] Mobile Smart Hub (app) delivers good news for movie lovers who are stacking tons of DVD movie titles somewhere at home, because here we are offering the smartest way to see these old-fashioned DVDs at your brand-new smart phone and tablet. Since Optical Smart Hub (device) is not a conventional DVD writer but a media streamer that transmit the movie data through wireless connection, you can enjoy the movies through your smartphone or tablet wirelessly when you use Mobile Smart Hub (app) with it. Of course, you can wirelessly stream your CD music and enjoy high-quality sounds that MP3 can never be. Optical Smart Hub (device) can stream the video files to your smart TV, Smartphone or tablet using either Samsung Allshare or DLNA. So you can share them with your family or friends in your living room. Since some of smartphones and tablets have limited storage capacity, you may be upset if you have plenty of things to keep but just find there’s no more free space. Mobile Smart Hub (app) is offering a good backup solution. It can wirelessly backup data such as pictures, videos or contacts to an ODD media or USB storage. Besides, if your USB storage is connected to Optical

I also would like to know if you can read DVDs with video files Avi, Mkv and others?

Yes, that's the one I ordered and it plays original and backed up dvd's wirelessly only with the Mobile Smart Hub App. The app can play video files stored on a dvd, but not every video format. For the video formats the app can't handle you can turn on samba file sharing in the router and use a file manager that supports networking to navigate to your videos on dvd and play them with your video player of choice. You can also connect an external hard drive to the Smart Hub and play videos from there.

Here is the video I stumbled across http://www.pocketables.com/2013/03/h...8bw-video.html

And this is the Amazon UK retailer I ordered from http://www.mymemory.co.uk/PC-Accesso...rt-Hub---Black

If you order this, the set up is pretty easy if you have a little networking knowledge. The first thing you'll need to do is connect the Smart Hub to your internet hub to upgrade the firmware from the Smart Hubs router webpage.

1000Thanks Jerryo100, for all the information and Sorry for the delay.

I just place my order at Amazon UK for this Samsung Optical Smart HUB, So hope I will receive it next week!

However, I am a little worried, because some users at Amazon.co.uk have had problems if upgrade from the original TW02 to the latest version TW03 firmware... Are you using the latest firmware without problems?

Is this new TW03 firmware better than the Original one, that came with the drive??

Also at Amazon.co.uk, someone recommends to manually update the firmware using the following link:

What Update method do you recommend me to use, automatic/wireless or manual?

You mentioned before, that the Power adapter only came with 2 euro plugs and that you have soldered a short US cord to one of the euro plugs... I would like to know if the AC input voltage is 100-240VAC (Global)?

Thanks again for all your help!!

As soon as I received mine I connected it to my dsl modem and upgraded from TW01 to TW03 using the Smart Hubs router web page. I never tried TW01 or TW02 so I don't know if TW03 is better or worse than the first 2 and I let it auto upgrade the FW so I can't say if other upgrade methods are better or not.

The only problems I've had are with the Mobile Smart Hub app. The video player always crashes the app on my Acer A500 tablet but works on my MK808B TV stick with a lot of brief pauses. I turned on the samba/FTP server in the Smart Hub and use BS Player to perfectly stream all my movies. I use ES File Explorer to transfer files instead of the Smart Hubs file manager (I think it has a 50 MB file size limit) so I only use the apps DVD player for playing DVDs.

Yes the AC input voltage is 100-240VAC.

Thanks jerryo100, for letting me know that the TW03 Firmware works OK and that the power supply is 100-240VAC... So, I will only have to solder a short US cord to change the AC-Plug type, as you already did it...

I will receive my package from Amazon UK the next week, so I will keep you informed...

Although the Mobile-Smart-Hub APP do not work as it should, I hope that at least the drive and Wifi connection will work well.

I would appreciate any additional remarks or recommendation, about this Samsung Optical Smart HUB.

Thanks again for all your help!
