Smartphone as TV Box - instead of TV Box using Android Smartphone OS

What if I just buy a second hand smartphone (ie Galaxy 8 or 9) with external Fan for cooling and use it as my Smart Android TV Box
Anyone else here is currently doing that

Any cheap chiness smartphone (and good spec) with HDMI TV Out and can be change to English language

    Good idea maybe.
Most Samsung Phones Support MHL adapters.
But the Battery will be the problem.
Always charging the phone will blow it up.

      Thanks for the reply
I'm currently googe if its safe to keep phone wired/wireless charge all the time
if anyone have any opinions on keep phone in charge - is welcome

another solution is using the Smart Wifi plug - to program when and how long to charge the battery

        hmm..
There phones that can do that... phone to display
        * cnx-software.com has a few topics about this
Like my tablet.. could ( back when it was stock )
But there where always black borders

        Alternative
        I currently have a "HP displaylink" device (hp 3005 pr ) connected to my tvbox ( h6 / usb3 )
*it allows dual display... using the app from Google play ( my unit has a 1080p max )
        *it keeps the power steady
I tried the displaylink with various devices tables / phones.. it works
it has some lag..on some devices... playing YouTube 1080p
        pro
5.1 audio from 3 ports work using kodi/uap pro
        192khz DAC detected
display port and hdmi works (1080p)
the many USB v2 and 3 work

        cons
GB LAN on displaylink doesn't work on android
        the are quite expensive
it doesn't allow extended display on android ( Linux/win10 it does )

or use some kind of chromecast device ( stream from phone to chromecast to TV )

        Anyway.. Cheers
