Optical LED no longer lit, burned out or firmware issue?

Hi the optical led or toshlink connecter is no longer is lit up, did it fail or is it a firmware/setting issue, does anyone else have this issue and know a fix or solution?

H96 Pro (S912), CZ-S32-V2.2 (EMMC 100% Died, still functional using Coreelec + SD Boot (uboot loader) / USB (coreelc))
x96Q Max Pro (H616), Slow as F, runs hot, ok for movies.
ChromCast Android TV - Great device but annoying no usb port.

I will throw out a guess since there are no pics/model# or if this event happened naturally or from an attempted mod/flashing.

If your China Box is still working and you use the TOSLINK connection, you may have a damage solder point.
It would be cheaper to return you box(under warranty) than to pay for fixing it (USA/CAN- $20 bench fee + repairs).

Without a warranty, pop it open and check the PCB location. Then make a plan to fix or toss.
