[Question] Start ATV apps on phone/tablet?

Hello,

Have tried to find a answer to my question on this forum and the web, but without any success. I hope it’s okey to ask here!

I have a Android TV box (Not ATV), the OS on the box is Android Oreo. When I download apps I have to use a mouse to navigate most of the apps. Is there any way to force the application to start in “tv mode” instead of “phone/tablet mode“?

What I understand most of the apps recognize the device and starts the “right” interface, would be great if there were a way to change the apps.

I have a airmouse, and it works. But the rest of the family don’t like it, they think it’s hard to navigate. I have read somewhere that it could be possible to download an app in apk and change it. But I don’t remember.....

You can install phone apps to an AndroidTV device like the Mi box but you can't install AndroidTV app to a tv box running standard Android.
If you want to use AndroidTV, you will have to buy an AndroidTV media player or a standard Android media player and install custom AndroidTV firmware to it, only a few devices support custom firmware.

I was afraid of that. I have a H96 max x2 device, and I know there is a few custom firmwares for it. Even a couple of ATV ROMs. But unluckily I have a device with ddr3 memory, so non of the custom ROMs I have found work with my device. Didn’t know this when I bought it, was labeled ddr4 on the webpage.
