New antenna for mk802iv

I have done the antenna mod long time ago by today i put a new 5dbm external antenna on the mk802iv and an other one on my router. Results are pretty amazing. 65Mbps at -30 dbm * 40asu. Check out the pics:





Eventhough i have these gain in signal when i copy a big file from my pc the speed is about 800 kb


Edit: signal is now @ -17 dbm. The router is 3m away and there is a concrete wall between

hello, this is indeed very impressive,

can you maybe post instructions on how to do this? (meaning the soldering itself of the antenna).

i am frankly quite scared to try this, already opened the device and took the antenna cable and the silver thingy outside the stick.

Well first you'll need one of this:



Then desolder the antena wire:



Do not desolder the wire on the device just the antenna then solder the middle wire with the middle wire on the pig tail and the outter wire with the outter on the pigtail, the middle is for the antenna the outer for the ground. After done with the soldering you need one 5db antenna, like this one:



you can find one on **** pretty cheap and then you are good to go. Cheers

One other thing that you need to keep in mind for having a stable wifi on these devices is that you need to put a heatsink on the wifi chip. If not then whatever antenna mod you make, the signal wont be stable it will fluctuate

That might do the job but you can search for a 9 db antenna maybe, i got mine from a broken router and it was saying there that the antennas were 5db but they are definitely bigger than this one here

Now that i saw the description even the first one the 5dbi would do just fine. Still if you se that its not enough you can go on the 7db or 9db. For me the 16db seems huge, its 40 cm long so just give a try to the 5db.

I have modded the device for a big heatsink ontop of the the already existing heatsink (probly on the cpu(?) ), will this affect the wifi cheap? I dont want to burn it.

i have ordered the sma pigtail from above, and thinking about this antenna:

i just dont want to overload the wifi cheap and still get better wifi quality...

Try to post a pic of your device so i can see it, but usually the chip for the wifi isnt covered by the cpu heatsink. On most of the minipc's that i have seen the wifi chip is the silver chip.

I can see the picture but you need to remove the plastic covers to see where the chips are placed on the board
