MK 908 lan streaming HD movies not working (constant buffering)

    Hello,
I have a v3 mk908 and after trying a lot of roms I found that the 8/29/13 NEW MK908-android.4.2.2-jjhmod-v2.2 Universal Rom

    THANK YOU ! hoabycsr

    is rock solid.

However I bought this stick to turn in to a media center and play hd movies ( mostly 720p ) from my network media server (centos LINUX) over samba. However no matter what I do It will not achieve smooth playback due to transfer issues. It constantly buffers now and then if the bitrate is bigger the 450kb/s.

The same movie works just fine if I copy it on a usb stick and plug it direct in to the device.
To avoid wireless issue I have the MK908 connected via a LAN stick something generic 9700.

If any am you guys have/had the same issue and have the solution please do share.

Maybe you should try NFS or DLNA. I don't have expertise in Linux, but NFS seem to be more native compare to windows SMB.
T428 ,Radxa Rock (RR), cs918s v1.0, waiting for my X7...

Your usb to lan stick is a piece of crap. I know, cause I bought it too. Unfortunately, the chipset used in it is only usb1.1, so the fastest speed you can get is about 500kB/s :/. I ordered the proper one from geekbuying: http://www.geekbuying.com/item/High-...et-314264.html and can't wait to get it

Stay away from it, I have two of them, and they have that crappy chip inside. Better check it out: http://www.geekbuying.com/item/USB-L...MB-320695.html it looks exactly the same, but they say it is 8877B chip, which I understand as ASIX AX8877B, which is USB 2.0 and probably is nice piece. Pity I hadn't find it before I ordered hub less adapter :/. If I were you I would buy it. Don't forget to leave a feedback if you decide to order it.

              Well, I ordered this one:

for 10 $ total (registered airmail) Hopefully it will arrive until Christmas )

I will post the results when it arrives, if it does not solve the problem at least I will have a USB hub

From my experience watch out for unbranded chinese adapters. Most of them use fake/clone asix chips and will give you problems. If you buy one don't forget to check this document from asix:

                I'm using this one now:

It's more expensive but belive me, it's a original product and unlike all the chinese adapters i tested before it never gave me any kind of problem

Well it took a while to deliver but it did the trick, now I have more then 5000 kb transfer so I am happy with it. it worked plug and play first time. I recommend it.

@Lowteck, I want to order the same but I am not sure if it is a real ASIX chip. Can you please test it as per the pdf from ASIX and post the results. Also if possible please test the max speed for this one.

                    Thanks in advance!

I do not know if it is a real Asix or a clone. To be honest I do not care as it has a transfer speed over lan of 4.47MMB/s when copy a 1.17 gb file to the tronsmart internal storage and a 2.4 MB/s while copy the same file from the same lan samba server to an 16gb kingston stick inserted in the combo hub.
So with a 10$ investment I am happy it can handle every 1080p movie over my lan (linksys wrt54gl router&switch samba media server).
As far as is it an genuine Asix chip on the gheekbuing site it sais it is, as it works I do not care, I am satisfied.

Hi stevvieb, which one exactly is the fast one as I want to purchase one but I am not sure as they all look alike and the descriptions on the websites aren't really helping a lot, they are misleading.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Mine was this one http://www.****.co.uk/itm/MINI-USB-2...item27ccb433e9 in the UK. But that should show you what to get wherever you are.
