I purchased one of these on aliexpress a few weeks ago but cannot find any details about it online.

I would like to know what rom i could use or how to remove black line(one with home and volume) on the end of screen?
This is there even when XBMC is open.

Could you post more pic or info..
The black bar with 'home' is called 'systembar

it can be removed many ways..
-try this
go to the 'home-screen' and click 'home' button on remote -many times' do you see a arrow pointing down?
If yes.. click on it with the mouse.. when it appears...the bar should be gone ( now you can run xbmc fullscreen )

Option 2
installing a app called 'fullscreen' or ' hidebar'.. this requires 'root'
-so, first install a 'root checker' app and check if your unit has 'root' enabled..

Q :
Does the device have a 'otg' port ? or post pic of the back of the unit
Does it have 'root' ?
If your unit has 'screencapture' support post pic's of the 'settings' and 'device/kernel info' page

I just checked and it has root access but none of the hide bar apps worked.

Usually the seller has a link to download it. If not I have no clue but do not mess with it until you find a stock ROM for it. If you get it stuck in a boot loop, you wont be able to recover without a stock ROM.

Another way is to dump your ROM so we can make the dump flashable stock ROM.

The have a site 'acemax.net.cn' and the twitter.. and on alibaba you can chat

Perhaps you can ask them for fw ?

Wierd.. perhaps try a different 'root checker' app (encase the first gave a fails possitive)
--looking at specs.. it does have a 'otg' port (for fw backup or upgrade or rooting)

"Mx box has good xbmc support"???????

If your speaking to Chinese they do not know what the word ROM means. They call it a Brush.
Yes a Brush. Tell them you need factory brush file.

There is no any doubt at me. This is CX-921 box. I was going to order it, but refused. There are a lot of place with firmware, but I unfortunately deleted mine.

Sorry, but I don't have this device and can't check whether firmare which link I suggested to you working or not. I only tried to help you with searching.
I'm 100% sure that your device is CX-921. Try to type this name in aliexpress and you'll be able to see huge number of your device's brothers and compare their appearances and specifications with your box.
Only one important thing can be different. It's a RAM size. It can be 1 or 2 GB for this device. I don't know, probably ROM you have flashed, was created for 2GB RAM modification but you have 1GB.
