Help! I think my new KM9 Pro Deluxe is in a boot loop

I made a cable about 30cms long. I just twisted the same colour wires together and put tape over them. I think the cable works because my box lights up when I plug it in. However, I can't get it to connect with USB Burning tool. My 3 foot cable connects all the time. My 3 foot cable does not make the box light up when I plug it in but USB Burning Tool connects successfully however, it always stops at 3%.

While connected to USB Burning Tool, I believe pins 3 & 4 disconnect you and pins 5 & 6 reconnect. I was able to reconnect by shorting the pins and start the flash but it once agains stops at 3% with romcode/switch status/identify/error. Is my box bricked for good?

I'm starting to think it might be my firmware image. I have downloaded and tried the following:

KM9-ATV.img which is apparently a stock firmware but maybe not mine?
KM9-PI-V1.20190107.175858.img
KM3-PI-V1.20190320.img which is apparently from Guest
KM9-PI-V1.20190220.151755.img

They all stop at 3% UBOOT with varying errors. Does anyone have any other firmware for the KM9 Pro Deluxe that I can try? I have contacted Videostrong, the manufacturer, to get the stock firmware for my box. With it being the New Year holiday, I don't think I will get a reply that quickly.

When I try what I think is the stock firmware, I get the error message: romcode/switch status/identify/error result.

When I try any other firmware, I get the error message: romcode BI2 boot stage error.

Does anyone have anything that will help?

Booting from microSD card doesn't do anything except the front blue light blinks differently when I hit the reset button and power up with the microSD card inserted but nothing shows up on my TV. I let it run for about 10mins but nothing ever happened. When I just power up normally, the light stays on and blinks for a split second about every 5 seconds and repeat. With the microSD card, the light stays on for about 5 seconds and then goes off for about 3 seconds and repeat.

I don't know if this firmware __tps://androidtvbox.eu/new-firmware-for-mecool-km9-pro-atv-with-s905x2-soc-20190329/ (replace __ with ht) is for your box or if it is one of those you already tried.

I suggest you also to check once more the connections of the homemade USB cable (each couple of cables twisted tightly one to the other and secured by tape - at the end secure by tape all of them together). Usually cables are :Red is +5V
White is Data-
Green is Data+
Black is Ground
Maybe you didn't connect correctly the Green or White? There is also a small possibility that Green and White are different from one cable to the other (so there is a need to interchange them).
Anyway the 2 cables (the 3 foot you already had and the one you made by yourself) must respond in the same way, the only difference being that the sorter one will give more power to the USB port of the Box.

The homemade cable responds differently than the store bought one. It causes the LED to light up on my box while the store bought one does not. But I can't get the computer to connect to the box with the homemade cable. It's very frustrating.

Ok so I got the box to connect to USB Burning Tool with my homemade usb cable and shorting of the Nand pins. Same result though. 3% romcode/switch status/identify/error result. That's where I stand now.

OK. Now that you have a working homemade USB cable please do the following:
- Start USB burning tool (there is also a version 2.1.7.3 although I don't think the version you already tried is the problem).
- Load your image - check "Erase All" - and then press "Start"
- Now connect the box with the cable only (No power cord and NO short pins).
- If it stops at 3% just unplug the cable and replug it after 1-2 seconds).

If this doesn't work you can try the following:
- After you start the USB burning tool go to "View-Temperature settings" and alter there the range from 20-40 to lets say 10-90. After that repeat the above process.

- In another attempt try with "Erase bootloader" as unchecked.

You can try also other variations with or without connecting at the same time the power cord.
As far as the shorting pins method is concerned I would list my problem to get help from the Forum I mentioned earlier.

For the "short pins" method I think you must connect pins 7 & 8 !!!!!!!! (CLK + RST_N)

Thanks for all your help ath156. This is what I have tried without success:

1. Changing temperature from 20-40, 10-90, 0-100, 1-99, with selecting the range checked and unchecked.

2. Unplugging the usb cable when it gets stuck at 3% but then I get a check connection error.

3. I have tried different variations of normal erase, erase all, bootloader, etc.

4. Using USB Burning Tool ver 2.1.6.8, 2.1.7.0, 2.1.7.1 and 2.1.7.3.

5. Using different USB ports on my Win 10 computer.

I don't think pins 7 & 8 do anything. I think it's pins 5 & 6. I can't get my computer to connect to my box with the homemade cable unless I short the pins. The reset button connect method does not work with this cable for some reason. I start USB Burning tool, make all the changes and hit start. Then I plug in my box to my computer. The light on the box comes on. I short the pins. The light goes off and USB Burning tool starts. The light comes back on about a second after USB Burning tool starts. It goes to 3% and then hangs there.

NO !!!!!
You must short the pins BEFORE you connect the USB cable !!
And while you still keep shorting the pins you then connect the USB cable!!
After 2-3 seconds you stop shorting the pins !!

It took me a while to get it to work like that because I only have two hands but I did what you said. I shorted the pins before connecting, then connect the usb cable. USB Burning Tool connect success. I tried holding the pins shorted and tried stopping the short after 2- 3 seconds and even removing the short right away but I always get the same 3% error at downloading UBOOT and romcode/switch status/identify/error result.

I can't believe that USB Burning Tool or my box box is so finicky that it has to be the right sequence or playing with the temperature setting or it won't work. I am a total noob with this stuff but it doesn't make sense. It starts teh flash process but why always stopping at the same place with the same error? What does romcode/switch status/identify/error result even mean? It sounds like an error with the img file doesn't it?

You can try any combination of pins you want but keep in mind that the right way is the one I already stated above.
I hope that you will eventually succed in unbricking your box (with the right firmware of cource).

I tried everything you said but it still doesn't work. I get the same error message. After doing more research on this forum and another forum, I believe that something has been modified by the vendor and that is why I am getting this error and I can't get any firmware I use to flash correctly.
