ALso make sure you did not remove the built in browser!!! Voice search calls that and if you removed it, it will force close.
"Forgive them as they know not what they do"

Also installed Google Search
I also installed Google Search before installing Google Voice:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox &hl=en
After installing the above apps, I was able to switch the default search widget with the Google Search widget that has the Google Voice functionality.

I have noticed some applications won't natively recognize the mic on my 701c for some reason. For example in Evernote I can't tap the microphone and record audio. If i tap the microphone icon in the Evernote tool bar I'll just get the "Your device doesn't support this feature" message.
However installing the actual Google Voice Search app seems to offer a work around in many cases. While I can't record directly via Evernote, google voice does add the mic to the android keyboard. That little feature allows me to dictate to evernone just fine. Instead of tapping the mic in the Evernote tool bar I use the microphone button on the keyboard and then Evernote faithfully records my dictated notes etc. just fine.
I've been playing around with Google Voice Search. My first experience with it and it works much better than I anticipated. I've also installed the "Speaktoit" virtual assistant app. Sort of like a free alternative to SIRI on Android. That works pretty decently as well.
As I've played around with this tablet more and more I've found it's capable of doing the majority of things you want it to do. You just have to be willing to spend a little extra time to get it to do it.
For instance, even finding an app you are looking for might be hard via Google Play. Speaktoit didn't show up at all in the Google Play Market. I then searched via browser and it was there. However it wouldn't let me install via browser because it said I wasn't using a supported device. Of course I'm not going to stop there because this isn't an officially supported "Google Play/Android Market" tablet Play is going to recognize to begin with. I searched for the Speaktoit apk file, installed it and it worked just fine.
