X96 Air, firmware is rubbish, the box is fab.. Custom ROM??

Yesterday I received the X96 AIR 4g/64g 1000 lan version, the box itself if great way faster then my old W95, now the problems...
When I use a VPN both PIA and Nord when connected via ethernet in settings it says i am not connected,
so I have to take the ethernet cable and plug back in. This isnt an ideal situation having to do this each time.
Also why do these firmwares have no Drop down status? I am using snowball APP but the box will not allow notifications..

My question is do you think someone or amlogic will release a firmware? with all working . its a fantastic device despite the little annoyances

Thank you for your reply will these be effective on a X96 Air? will ethernet work? i cant seem to find specific roms for X96 AIR as all seem to be beta atm..

I am sure someone will develop one
